Swipe?

I was gonna wait till the message board came up to address this, but decided to talk about it now while its still fresh. Someone commented on my guestbook about this page: http://www.opcode.org/~rude/swipe.html and requested i make a statement about it.
Well the picture they have on the page is the picture i used for my source. Unlike someone else assumed in another guestbook posting, i did not just open a layer and trace the picture. It started out as a lighting study. I do this from time to time to practice my lighting, i will take a photograph and try to duplicate the lighting on the face in order to learn how light falls on the face etc. Or sometimes i will draw the face myself, then take another photo (totally different but from the same angle) and use the lighting on that as a source for practice also. The thing is i never post these tests and practice images, until this picture. Now, for this image i had filled in the lighting values and was about to put it away like all the other lighting tests and practice drawings, however, I took a look at it and figured since it was during my 1 image a week period and i was really happy in how it turned out that i could use that as my final drawing. So i added some funky white hair, slapped on a plastic outfit and put in an eclipse (the moon part was from a photo) in the background. When updating my page and putting the image in the gallery, i never before have talked much about my process for the image, so all i usually put is the title of the image and thats it, therefor there wasn't a place for me to explain my process for that image (I will though from now on, since this was actually something i've been thinking of doing anyway.) In hindsight, i wish i hadn't posted the picture or at least put some explanation up with the drawing, but i just wasn't thinking about that, and i apologize for not crediting photograph.
I am a very strong proponent of crediting artwork and not ripping things off, and I hope people believe me when i say this one honestly slipped my mind. If i was trying to get away with this, i could have deleted the guestbook post and no one would have noticed since i saw the entry within 10 minutes of it being posted. Also, I have a feeling 90% of people who view this page don't check the guestbook, so me posting a link here from my main page would only make more people see that "swipe" link. I will update the Eclipse page with a blurb about the source.
Anyway, thats that. For those that think i'm just making this all up as damage control, i'm sorry you feel that way and wish there was some way to change your mind.
