Alrighty, I tried to study more carefully the values, shapes etc. etc.. I found Adjustment Layers (curves) quite handy doing this.

The digital one has much better (dramatic)lighting and colour than the acrylic IMHO. But then again, cyan is not my personal favourite colours... I like green.
