get 20 or 30% cool gray prisma marker and put some garbage on paper, lines, dots, circles, whatever. Than start scribbling something with pencil, your brain will start connecting everything into shape ...

Great sketch...I agree with the above. The bw drawing is mean and severe. In rendered character all that is gone.

When I close my eye I usually see some mechanical parts, quite sharp, b/w they look like drawings. Very seldom I get a glimpse of entire object. Trying to draw that is futile ...
