I'm not really big on this type of art and on most part I agree with Visigoth, so I won't critique it. I think it is a cheap ploy to draw attention. The thing that I hate most about this thread is the topic. So, you are angry at the world.. big deal. Suck it up butter cup. Keep in mind that we have children on this forum that come here to learn. I can just imagine if a parent looked over and saw this topic. I'm not even religious and it offends me.

Although i don't particularly like his piece, I don't have anything against him. This has become too personal and these attacks degrade the integrity of the board. A flaming critique, well fine, but personal attacks repeated over and over really disgust me. A little intuition and some intelligence would help these matters, but alas, we have found neither. I suggest Dhab closes this thread.

I think that this flame war is nonsense.
My crits:
1- The image isn't clear and there are no composition lines at all.
2- The title is rude even if it is a song title(that's not a acceptable reason)

I think Dhab should close the thread. If there are no criticism this thread has no purpose.

Hmm, this is a rather immature discussion I would say. I think the name of the topic is rather childish, probably that causes a lot of stupid discussion ?!? But, shouldn't people be allowed to post whatever they want, though it's not catigorised as the typical "digital-drawing" type of picture, as long as it is something visually, since there's no certain rules of what to post in here (which I'm glad of)

I don't care if he just added textures and effects to a picture or whatever Split has done. And it doesn't depend on how he made it if it looks good then it looks good.

The title is a bit harsh but I think that has also nothing to do with the artwork, does it?

also, it's things like this that show the TRUE colors of a forum isn't it?? take one thing that doesn't fit into the majority's regimented ideals about art, and you're gonna get every ass and his brother in here trying to get you to take it down, stop doing it, etc etc.

anyone remember any art history?? remember when the impressionists first starting doing their work?? people were so cemented into the renaissance styles of art they HATED anything impressionistic...touted it as not being art...

and what's happening here??? the exact same thing.

Personally I dont see how this pic and its topic are any different than the guy who suspended a crucifix in a bottle of urine. Is that art?? I guess to him and the art gallery director that displayed it, it was.

probly took him about 30 seconds to pee in the jar and another 30 seconds to put the crucifix in it.

made a months worth of controversy.

My point is; to him, and a select few others, this is art. Do I agree? Not even slightly, but if I got offended at everyone who insults Jesus or takes an easy way to accomplish an artistic goal Id be alot more angry than I really need to be.

Dont get me wrong, Im not defending Splitsoul for this graphic. I dont like it much myself, and I really Dont like the topic. Yes I do think its childish. But I guess In todays world where do we really draw the line as to what 'ART' is?

There are ALOT of very respectable artists here and we all have our different opinions. thats life.
