I will NOT use the "N" word in reference to myself.
ANYWAYS ... I've been lurking this board for quite a while now. Chapel has convinced me that it's time to participate.
For now I'm just posting one picture, but will probably get a second one up in a little bit.
This is really just a reference for a new drawing I'm working on. I wanted to get the design of this thing worked out well before I started posing it or trying to depict anyt sort of movement. Design can make or break you after all.
What I've tried to do is keep this relatively simple. Rather than try to shade this thing, the access panels and lines across the body are supposed to give an idea of shape. To me it looks pretty good ... but then again I know what I am looking at.
This was all done in Photo Shop 5.5 with a CalComp tablet. I worked a few prelim sketches on paper but that's about it. I only threw the text description and such in because I feel like this thing needs context.
This is the small version. Larger version can be found here.
Comments, suggestions and opinions are welcome.
*Ye old edit*
These are some early prelim sketches that I started working on the other day. As you may notice, I drew some inspiration from Warhammer 40K. At this point the ROAC resembles a Space Marine quite a bit.
As before, a larger version can be found here.
I even decided to give coloring this thing a go. This is not something I do very much, and I haven't had any practice in a while. Took me damn near forever just to get this far. I discovered that my design was a bit to plain, so it was time to go back to the drawing board so to speak. Anyway here it is.
You can see it original size here.

Bah! It would help if I actually linked to the large version now wouldn't it?

I'm sure Shizo said something about "tooling up" for the forthcoming Moscow Incident.
Looks good! I'd like to see a more detailed illustration or even some livery.
a good start though!

Thanks for the comments el tigre. Adding small details is something that can really make a drawing like this good, but it's something I've never been that good at.
I'm going to try adding some hard points for mounting weapons, maybe some sensor bubbles as well.
Once I get done with this post I'm going to throw up another prelim sketch, just to show how the idea has developed. |
