I was wondering if someone had any color suggestions, and I still need a better pose for the dude, I feel the background may over power the guy, but I still want it to be kind of realistic more than over exadurated! the sky color I think may be most important, I did have this bloked in but, as with anything you spend time with, you start to hate (just like family). Thanx

I would definately go with greens for the soldier just to make him stand out a little bit. As far as the sky goes, I think a sunset type sky would be pleasing to the eye, with orange, reds, and pinks. good luck

I think it is looking good.
I did a quick rework of the composition and a value sketch. I hope you like it.
Howard Pyle said once..." In 30 minutes the layout should kill at 50 feet "
I feel this means, that if the drawing doesn't work on the simplest level then no matter how you finish it you are going to be fighting the painting the whole time.
I don't mean to say that this particular piece is bad. I just felt like blabbing about some things that I have been trying to work on in my own work recently.
Keep up the good work.
