the curve of the sword is to help the composition, i agree it does look a tad bit odd, but i like it. i definently will color this, it just will be a while til i get the finished pencils then the inks done. thanks guys for your comments |

Only complaint, he doesn't look cut up enough. I see the cuts and stuff, and granted i only watch TMNT in the watered down cartoons, but i would think shredder would do much more damage in a one-on-one fight, especially with how defeated leo looks. |

I'm kinda confused to what's going on in that picture. Looks good though, just hard to figure out the 'story' behind it.
Reminds me of something I stopped working on a while ago:

IMHO, Leo is way too large and centered, he takes up the whole piece. Everything else fades into the background, and the katanas break up the composition too much and drag the eye off of the page.
Only seeing half of Leo makes it look very unfinished...for a middle closeup, just the head and shoulders is a good stopping point. I'd either back the view out to see all of Leo, or close it way in and only see his face and a hint of shoulder.
The candles being in the middle to foreground flatten the piece quite a bit. The other sword entering from the left makes no sense at all, the viewer has no idea where it's coming from and it also drags the eye away.
IMHO, this begs to be done from an extreme high or low POV, so one could see all of Leo in a pool of his own blood as Shredder calmly walks away.
I know, you'd have to completely redo it if you listened to me, but for future reference.
Yeah, I'm feeling wordy tonight.

Ah, I was wondering if you ever got around to this.
The colors are nice, but the lighting seems a little weird to me. Like it should be casting some directional shadows, or the contrast should be sharper. But to each his own. _________________ den.vvulf |

yup ive been working on this almost non-stop, most of my time went into color studies and also tryin to revise the inks according to some comments received. i feel the shadows should have less contrast like in this piece due to most of the light coming from candles. But candles are strange, they can flicker and whatnot and produce various forms of shadows. I did receive one comment from another forum today which was really good. She told me about shredders shadow and how it should be more elongated stretching further downwards, i feel she had a good point and i may fix that but i cant right now. thanks for your comments _________________ Adam Cline
