I made this last night after watching an anime about malfunctioning, cybernetic prostitutes. I didn't think about the lighting and there are probably some anatomical faults in there, but I painted her straight to canvas, so no under drawing. It's quite a disturbing picture. I hope no one takes offence by it.
cheers!

pretty cool man i think what would really add to this peace would be to add a few rain drops bouncing off her skin.
I did not explain that right but i hope you get what i am saying. |

Wow, zenon, great work here. I can see a few places where you could add some detail, and a little more contrast here and there, but nothing drastic. In fact, the lack of contrast fits with the muted feel of the piece. Really good job regardless of those nit picks. In the words of Homer Simpson, "More please."

FEw comments:
Things you can add to improve.
Rain drops on the ground, rings and spattering water.
Try to eliminate the line art around her hands and feet, and take it to the next level by just using difference in color to form the lines.
Her hands and foot need more definition, and detail. you could leave the BG the way it is, but more detail couldn't hurt.
None the less, your picture was an instant environment to me. I felt cold and wet looking at it. You achieved in that area very well.

Hey guys!
stneil777: Thanks. I originally added some bouncing rain drops around the body, but I think they got lost when I duplicated the rain layer. I'll fix that.
sacrelicious: Cheers. Yeah it had dominantly a stronger contrast when I first drafted the painting. Then I added a low opacity grey/blue layer over the top to give the image a kind of mistey concealed effect, which alternately lowered the contrast.
Cos: Cool! Thanks. One of my favourite films!
Mitch.C: heheh, thanks man! Though my drawing skills need alot more practising too. If you haven't already, check out the Loomis threads in the digital discussion page.
swampbug: Thanks for the crits. Yeah I definately agree about the lines. They make the figure look more cartoony then the background. I'll try to blend those in. I'll also add more detail to the feet and hands, especially the feet. The whole painting was a bit of a rush job!
Cool! Glad you dig the environment
Thrush: Cheers man! The gruesome part came to mind when I saw something simular (human) at rotten.com. Yuckkk!
Made some changes.
later!

Malfunctioning cybernetic prostitutes! That's funny. I like this picture and it's not *that* gorey. I was expecting to see a John all ripped to shreds. I like the expression on her face and the effect the mangled eye has on it. Keep posting.
