LOL, this is probably one of the funniest posts i have ever read on this forum. The fact that Scooby posted a BAD ASS picture that faust made to try and make a point, that really didn't 'point' to well is just sad, Faust I know your a dick, but you definately kick this guys ass when it comes to textures. I like fgfx's work alot better so :P |

I really dont see how that picture is badass.
The point I was trying to make however was that it was all "texture" and fluff, and no substance.
I hate abstract art.
but I guess thats just me.
sides it was the only picture of his I could dig up in a hurry. |

if you knew the background of it, you'd know there's nothing more to it than boredom doodling, practically making the exact opposite of what the original piece luke yoo had done was.
i'd like to see how it's bad ass too. the only pic of mine i regard as good are the self portrait one even if it's flawed as shit and doesn't look like me at all and the black/white ink-like heartguywhatever drawing, which naturally brought in a huge flamewar. *shrug* |

actually I went to your site to see some of your shit. I remembered you, but mostly only as a dick, and a bit of a scruffy texture/filter/lens flare wannabe art monkey. I just wanted to see if you had any real art I could pick apart. The only thing I found besides the graphics for your website was this pic.
I hate abstract art for the most part, and as soon as I saw that I thought
"Holy shit! That sucks ass! Ill post that!"
Its just a bunch of dirty crap with some bright edged geometry and a couple of generic evil looking machine parts |

that's quite interesting since there's nothing in my site except a index.html with a paintball gun barrel photo of mine with a few words on it.
you being the texture mastermind, how about you recreate the area above the "floodgear.com //" text for example? or tell me how i did it.
you're still a faggot too, don't worry. i'm the head texture artist at work. are you? |

ah.
finnish company called mediaclick oy (ltd. for zee english) (god knows about the name..)
if the name says something to you then i'll be amazed.
we do realtime 3d tech / broadband tech. 'shared multiuser environments' they call it. practically online 3d games without the game part :P and applications (software, showreels, info systems, whatever a client might want) using the crap. it's about the technology, not the products, hence how we have only 9 artists and over twice as many programmers. blrr. company's almost 4 years old and we've got over 40 people working for us at the moment. in other words, the high ups drink coffee and look important and we play operation flashpoint. and kiss clients asses. , ibm, hewlett&packard, alot of weird japanese ones and so forth. the job rules, it's more a lifestyle than a dayjob. the people make it worth it. the work doesn't. |

You forgot the money.
Im a wedding photographer. I was the head art guy at a digital photo company doing shit twice as boring as what your describing for about 3 1/2 years. I finally left when I couldnt take it anymore. It paid pretty well actually. A tiny bit more than Im making now. |

it might come as a profoud surprise (aren't surprises relatively profound anyway? let's just use it as an emphasizer) but i'd still say it's the people there who make it worth it. after over a year in the company it still doesn't feel like work. well it does in 6 days of straight working deadline crunches from hell, but still. really really fun people to hang around (work) with. |

THAT is the only reason Im working on my art porfolio for a game studio job.
It sure as hell isnt the pay, prestige or the chicks it'll get me.
To work with like minded people.
Of course there are your fat hairy smelly nerd types who wear "resistance is futile" t-shirts and talk endlessly about the old days of gaming where Zork was king. Oh and they jerk-off to anime (eeeeewwwwwwww). Those types I avoid like the plague. |

i like anime =)
well some of it. (relatively) mature (ish) stuff like cowboy bebop and shiznizzit like that. i can't stand the overtly cute fluffy whee stuff. and screaming. i absolutely and sincerely hate screaming little kids. and that stuff is just that. SCREAMING. argh. every japanese voice actor and actress needs to receive imminent utter disembowelment. GARRRR. |

btw.... heres my actual comment on the art. the metal is good. but for all the dirt/rust wtever deterioration on the metal it looks odd for the light bulb to be in perfect condition. |

Lightbulbs burn out, and get replaced. Hardened metal fixtures with rivets do not. |

Scoobydoo,
It amazes me how faustgfx, whose English is atrocious, continually comments on how other people use the language. Every post of his, in this thread, contains enough errors to choke the simple spell and grammar checkers in MS Word. It's pathetic.
Your texture tutorial, on the other hand, is quite good. It is a helpful beginning for those who might want to try texturing. You never represented it as anything else. So, I can understand why the arrogant useless comments by faustgfx upset you.
Don't sweat it.
Radiater. |
