Hi All,
First post and I'd like to say I've been enjoying this site for a long time but have been up until now, too lazy/shy/busy to ever post.
I'm impressed by the exchanges that take place on this forum and by the obvious progress many artists here have been making due to the generous help and critisms of others.
So, I'd like to post an image, a concept piece, for a creature from the last game I was involved in. There are things I like and more things I don't like about the work.
I guess the biggest problem with it is I jumped to detail before nailing down the form. It has nice polish but it's flat.

It's very good, the detail is awesome, but like you say its a bit flat. I think its mostly because of the texture background, it just looks like a collage of a photo cut in a magazine and stick on some wall.
if i isolate the figure it doesnt look that flat, you have value variations and shadows, just work on a completely new background and add some more contrast at some places on the figure and it will be really great |
