*bump bump-a-dy BUMP*
Almost the the third page.
I ask this question because I don't want to put something in a portfolio, like a rendering of a master. If it does not have meret. Thanks. |

Well technically, these are incredibly well done. But the fact that you doubt their artistic merit makes me wonder what the catch is? Did you trace them or something? Because if these are actually original works, then man oh man, please, cram these things into a portfolio. |

They're great drawings. I think it's probably important to have studies in a portfolio but it might be better to put studies from life because when you make a drawing of a painting or another drawing your methods can be questionable, whether you traced it or whatever.
those drawings would look impressive in a portfolio anyway |

Dammity shit, my friend, these are good. I like the still life. No portfolio can suffer from a few charcoals, especially if you're demonstrating your range of media. That first one has a metropolistic feel to it. Very old skool Hollywood. Stick 'em in! |

I really like the second one, the soft shading gives it a nice feeling
I've never seen the original but i think her head is a little squeshed, makes her look a bit chubby. Same with the third picture. hmmm now i've looked at it again and it doesn't seem that bad... Oh well, I tried |

*sniff* *sniff*
Thanks.
Tinush- the first is original. the second and third are NOT I repeat NOT traced they are done from hand. They are works of Ingre's. I just wonder if reviewers will look poorly down on 'copies' of masters vs. 100% original work.
Beth- Thank you.
Sleepi- Good thinking.
Little bee- I always really liked that still life it spoke to me.
Zorg- I struggled with these because I was not used to drawing on that large of a scale before. I think ended up doing two or so of each of Ingres work.
ANNOUNCEMENT: They are going in!!!! |
