I see everyone has been kicking some serious ass while I've just been slacking as usual. We need to invent a single word that means 'so inspired I feel like giving up' so that I'll know what to say about this thread without typing so much.
Anyway, I was inspired by ChiaNi's wonderful marker drawings. Tried to emulate in photoshop. Failed. 30min ref used.

I used to dislike Painter's watercolor brushes, but they're growing on me. |

gahhh swarm, im sucker for those finecrafted trees, just plain love it
hpx> i had tooth bracelets for a year long time ago, almost 10 years, and my mouth still has the scars, some in my gums, some inside my cheek (nasty crumbs) and some in my upper lip... so this is just what i think about dentists and therefore brush my teeth every night carefully, im not willing to pay to someone torturing me with different freaky tools now im over 18 yrs (free dental service for everyone under 18 in finland, good thing for learning to hate dentists for free) |

some awesome paintings being done..
Darkness> Just my observation, don't know if you see it, is her right arm a tad short? Love the mood and colour of that painting though.
HaRdCOrePixxX> Scary looking guy.. sorry if someone asked you before and you already replied, but I was just wondering how you got that grainy kind of dry brush effect
originally started out as a pirate, but I got lost while detailing the head... guilty of focusing too much on one part of the painting..
looks more like a cowboy or something now..

ChiaNi - Thanks a lot! Well, Santa says to tell you that the brushes mainly used were Square Chalk, Variable Flat and Loaded Paletteknife. I tend to go for the built-in ones, don't have the patience to do too many adjustments...
Cheers!

darkness--i have to jump on the bandwagon here, your image is incredible, i especially liked your painting from before of the nude figure with the whales.. it is photorealistic and breathtaking. beautiful work.
swarm--that second image is amazing, great use of open and closed edges. it feels like it doesn't even need that border around it.
vyle--sweet vehicle. that's a speedpainting? i cant imagine how long that would take me.. how much time did you spend on it, and in what software? all tips appreciated thanks for the inspiration guys. my contributions to speedpainting coming soon! (i hope)

This is a sketch of the pilot made by Vyle for the car above, and I've done the Colors.

Hpx, the day you decide to do a comic book, I'll make sure I'll buy ALL the copies!
Antipro: Took 30 minutes (+5min for the pencil sketch). Using first photoshop (using 2 layers: multiply>> shadows and for the light overlay>> light spots) then in painter (using 1 layer for the pastels colors). Most of the picture is made by the background made 1 year ago (I created a bank of backgrounds by splotching ink and paint on papers then scanned hi rez).
Sukhoi: yep firebird!! (80's or something like that?)

@some on the last few pages
Its a "speedpainting"-thread.
... perhaps we "creat" a "non-speed-painting-thread" ? For all is not speedy enough and not special enough for a own thread? _________________ Lars Gtze

Gecko: Love the robot. Blows me away... and the eye by Finer... it looks great, especially the "wet" parts. And last but not least, the white suits by Janne.... Great concept.
About an hour on all of these...
About 40 mins on this one.
About 20 minutes on this... Some filter work here with the scanlines and such.

This is my first post in this forum.
I did this really super fast ... For me. Trying really hard to do more loose artwork. I have a tendency to detail to death. But I guess that looseness is sort of the point of this thread. Anyway, hope you like it!
About an hour:
