One of my best friends strongly reccomended I try Painter( since I love to paint) And he sent me a link to this forum to get some tips on how to get started.. And here I am posting a self portrait.. You guys on this board, are amazing artists.. I had no choice but to be inspired.
I don't quite get most of Painter yet, but from the start the Seargent brush worked like magic for me. Almost feels like I'm really working with oils. ( I've only had the program for 2 days, and most of the other brushes make no sense to me, so any general tips are muchly appreciated.)

wow. I like it. I like it very much. good lighting and good color. Lionel you are great. This is the way to go. |
This is what i have to say, the last one is your very best!
@Osto, wow, i think its perfect! Phenomenal Lighting, i looks so real!
@Timon, well, its the beginning.
Look at your eyes, you still think in symbolic shapes, eyes are no almond.
And also your nostrils and your mouth arent shown in perspective.
Try to look at what is there, not what you think is there!
Well anyhow, a good one to beginn with! See you here again.
@riq, cool one, i like it - just a little bit less contrast
It didnt look like it is your first work with Painter.
Well, i tried Painter theses days too, but had experience with Photoshop yet. In the DigitalArtDiscussion-Forum there is a Thread for PainterNewbies, look there, perhaps it helps (i havent read it yet).
PS: Welcome to Sijun, hope you like it here, well im sure!
@chiani - wow as everytime Perhaps next one a bit more detailed one? _________________ Lars Gtze

Timon: good first atempt try some more contrast
riq: Awesome and you are just starting please keep posting!!!
Duracel: Thanks fo the comments. I am getting a bit anoyed with my drawing and painted that one as a bit of a release. Probably some more sleep would help the most
zhuzhu: Wow I will be interested to see how this style develops
I have discovered that I can't seem to draw :/ so I have been working on
that. It has been a bit of a frustrating few days . I am a bit imbarised to post this one but just wanted to show you I haven't been lazy

Duracel: I did 47 selfpotrait in this thread so far. Most of them are junk. I am not as good as Andrew Jones. When I get better then. I well put some pictures put them togather. Like you say a collage of thumbnails.
Tomasis: Hey the kiss is invite your self potrait. Comon jump in. _________________ Holly sprite |

Have they to be better than andrews?
They are good enough, this is the only thing matters here.
And, im sure, 47 selfportrait-thumbnails together looks really cool.
But its your choice. _________________ Lars Gtze

ChiaNi: Love thouse expressions. I guess there are lots of us who would like to be able to draw as well as Mr Jones. What I really hope is if I every get anywhere near that standard I will still give back to the comunity in the way he does.
Duracel: Have a thicker jumper . I really hate missing the train
"after an hour walking through the streets of the town after I missed the train."
Well I am still trying to get the hang of this . Damm it I will even if it kills me. Tis the office party tommorw so I dobt I will do one tommorow

Hehe, ok.
Well, some more than my counter says And well, one is missing .. cause during my harddisc-crash in spring, one digital-painting selfportrait wasnt on my webspace.
so, if i count the multiple-ones not in a single way, i have made 30 selfportraits yet.
and here a(most time) chronological order

The second one is impressive ... the detailing, the shading, the scene, all, really impressive ... tell something about it, how you got the idea, how you made it, how long it took ... _________________ Lars Gtze
