MeatyCheesyBoy sounds like he's one of my kind. Heh.
Let's not forget 'Gunstar Heroes' for the Genesis, and the 'Crazy Taxi' series for the DC. |

Not only did the DC fall because of the Sony stranglehold, but also because of their marketing strategy. They'd sell their hardware much below cost and make up for it in pricing their games higher, assuming that if someone has the console, they'll need games. This is a strategy Sega had always used, unfortunately it was used in a time when they had a fair share of the market swaying in their favour (and the only real competitor being Nintendo).
So, instead of restructuring marketing in a hope they'd gain back the money they'd lost, which was a somewhat lost cause due to the current players in the field, they decided just to make software and diversify across systems.
Hey, I learnt something in Project Management. Go figure... @;-p |

Hey dont get me wrong...i LOVE my dreamcast. i was ony bummed cuz a week after i bought it for 150 the price fell to 100. The dreamcast has the best quality of graphics. IMO. i only have one game and the demo disk, but im going to get DOA2 after seeing what its like on the demo. the game i own is ecco: defender of the future...the story line is pretty good, a littl corny, but as far as eye candy goes, it blows everything else out of the water! the gameplay is smooth and easy, and all the tiny details from sand billowing into the water if you scrape the bottom to the national geographic photo quality of the rocks and coral.
unfortunately, i cant play any kind of games on my pc since a) my video card is f*ed up b) most of the new games require a newer version of windows than 95, and c) my processor is a namby papmpy little thing of about 200 i think...a bit slow. plus my whole comp is basically mangled from within. i dun know how to fix it cuz well, im not that kind of computer fiw it up person.
the graphics of a game are really nice (and this kind of contradicts my earlier statements) but what is really important to me is the storyline. i still enjoy those old nes games that have a great storyline and charas onlly 5 pixels tall.
in all I personally own a dreamcast and sega genesis, but my bro has a playstation, nes, super nes, a N64, and a game boy, plus hes getting a game cube, and i will get and xbox once the price goes down. i still love buying games for those older systems. |

Personally, i still think the DC could have survived with some expandablity. Like extra RAM ports, or something to that effect. Naturally expandablity is dangerous, and Sega has learned that leason many times over (32X, SegaCD) Needless to say, it could have made the DC more attractive to developers. For now, we'll just consider the DC a legend in console history.
As far as the Xbox is conserned. I'm going to hold off until more, quality titles are released. There are some decent titles, but few of which are trully....inspiring. I'm not to keen on wacky cartoon, pop culture, and ExTrEmE sport games. Halo certainly looks great, though i havn't had a chance to play it.
I have to argue that playing on a console is VERY different then the PC. I wouldn't be caught dead playing something like Dead of Alive 3 on my PC....thats just not right! Same goes for RTS games, they don't make good console games. Plus, its going to be a while before the PC can trully compete graphically with the Xbox. IMHO...

DC rocked because:
1)At that time, it was the ONLY console that ported games that looked BETTER than the arcade version.
2)Soul Calibur. Perfection.
3)DOA2 looks better on DC than PS2.
4)DC games didn't have ugly aliasing problems like PS2.
5)My jaw dropped the first time I saw Virtual Tennis.
6)Typing of the Dead!!!!
7)Seaman. Can you say, INNOVATIVE?
9)On TV, "Sega!!" sounds cooler than "Poolaysdaesheeon."
10)Virtua fighter series is the godfather of 3D fighting games, and Soul Calibur is the reining king of best 3D fighting game ever. They are both exclusive to Sega's system. Also, have you seen more beautiful ports of 2D fighting games than on DC??
