Capt: Yeah, it's an HE 111, pleased you recognised it . I'm modelling / skinning one for a R6 Ravenshield -Stalingrad mod at the moment, so I thought I should try to try to paint one ...I really like the design of the cockpit glass in that plane.
I havn't tried Sturmovik, that sounds like a lot of fun with a whole gang in there, that cockpit must look great from the inside too _________________ Saturnfive Design |

Capt: Cheers for posting that, I love the bullet damage decals. Would be really cool to fly that plane, I really must get that game
Breeze: IL2 is generally raved about as the most fun flying game by quite a way, I think.
Here's another HE_111 (from photo, 2.5 hrs) I think it needs more aggression in the strokes maybe?

Hi Guys. This is the finished version of a sketch I posted earlier. I've been picking at it in my spare time and finally got it done. Please critique.

Very very very Nice Mark! it's got just as much speed feeling in it as the sketch. Looks like you just made a swooshy motion and suddenly it's there, skillfull!!
I actually started to do an "overpaint" picky as I am, but when I was painting on it I thought to myself, "hey why am I doing this? it's good as it is dammit" I thought it would be more right to lower the horizon but when I look at yours I really like it as it is, to be very picky I worked on the metal sirface of the p 47 , made it more matte to make it look more weathered, and the nosecone changed to a juicier red, I really think you should ignore this but I'm posting it anyway hehe sorry...

Coo, pic mark !
Looks like by lowering the horizon, flushy, you have effectively changed the angle which the plain is flying away from the ground, so it is more parallel to the ground instead of flying up away from it. I would agree however that the ground witht the horzon seems 'twisted' sorta but that's totally not true I think now lookng at it again.
I shut up now. |

Good call on the darkness on the right Cap. I had that in the back of my mind to bring more attention to the plane but I don't think I'll make it quite as dark. Maybe some slight purple/blue action. You're also right about toning down the metal. I get carried away with the 'Ooooh, look at the shiney thing..' state of mind. I think I'll keep the red toned down though for probably the reasons you toned down the metal, although the paint chips are a good touch.
The horizon, hmmmm.... Jury's still out on that. |

I love the flat, far sight landscape. For me a major part of the painting. Flushgardens version might feel more real, but Marks version gives the whole thing some additional feature (at least for me ). |

Hey all.
This is my first time posting on this forum, but I have been coming here for inspiration for ages. As both an amateur digital painter and a hopeless IL2 sturmovik addict, here's my contribution to the propellor thread.
I'm trying to sharpen my skills, so criticism is greatly appreciated. By the way, a photo reference was used for this painting.
Anyway, expect more posts from me in the near future. |

Hey ELLioT, I like that bomber design. You probably know about this site already, but if not you should find it very interesting:

Here's one I did about a year and a half ago. I traced the P-51 (sorry) as I was experimenting with painting in Painter 7 at the time.
