This thread continues to amaze and inspire me. its managing to work the comic artist out of me and the painter into me.

spooge - really appreciate your enjoyness of my stuff
hm...abt myself, I AM NOW UNEMPLOYED(damn,i hate to tell that,it pulls me again and again out from my wonderland:p)...my education comes from Academy of Art Guangzhou(China),was studing interior design. then i set off for Germany and went to Art Academy Stuttgart(Architecture)...had lots of fun at beginning, but now it seems i have to choose one of them: a spade, or a brush.
i did learn some concept sketching/painting skills from the academy, but never really went to any academic drawing class(always a pity for that) i didnt paint much during my architecture study------didnt need to,you know,CAD programs are the whole shows------untill i was introduced to Wacom table:) and its the history then.
sorry Craig, as said, im not yet a pro, dont really have much to say about my work, hope someday do though.btw. the latest mickey pic is amazing,my professor would like to see that in my public-architecture presentation
sometypeof: thanks:)
m703-324-
Duracel: that pic was just a brush test, didnt prearrange it:P say, do u often go to zoo? i like your zoo sketches very much.
matthew: the last piece looks really "pierre-like" very nice!
ceenda: awsome!
rorsh: what kind of story of your comic? the character looks cool
here are 2 for today, yeh i know the dinosaurs look kinda dump, try to spent some more time on concept design next time
30-40min for each

Drunken Monkey - thank you. :)
wasssup - thank you, I always feel inspiration when I am looking at your stuff. :)
I tried one more of a pierre inspired picture and it is so difficult to work with full opacity, I hope you dont mind pierre?
Keep up the good work everyone. :)

m703-324, I must say that I think the buildings painting you did shows a very simplistic and confident style, it has a nice lighting to it. I really do think it is great.
rorsh, cool concept and nice work!
neff, I think you did a damn good job
matthew, ofcourse I don't mind =) I didn't invent the electromagnetic waves, and your stuff look way more dynamic than mine. Just a little more definition of the planes.
wassup, great to hear about your background and great stuff as always, alot of motion in your stuff. I love the shapes and loose style.
spooge, as always, your traditional stuff makes me want to turn off my computer and hit my canvas with my wooden brushes.
drunken monkey, your stuff looks better for every post
sometypeof, thanks!
I am adjusting the gamma of the monitor so this might come out way too dark.

A little over an hour but not worth it's own thread.
I'm in awe of the work in this thread alone.

duracel- i think youve got a very good sense of colors, that landscape looks deep
pierre- thanks man, im doin a short comic, it will be printed in b/w, so i hasitated a little at style at beginning, didnt know how an impressionistic-like pic in b/w looked like. i tried some sketches and got it go pretty well. i think ill paint more like that in the coming weeks.
Neff- youve definitely got the lighting skill!
Matthew- thank you. to work with hard value is a good way to practice your basic form/value skills, it forces you to paint not relying on those "hi-tech trix", and i see that from your stuff-----it works:)
"i will find you!"
a really quick one, with no ref
ed: add 1 more, love letter

By far the best speedpaint forum I've seen
Something I did last night. I used a small ref from the film Pirates of the Caribbean.

Mikko K: Nice! I like it.
Playing around with the Palette Knife in Painter 8. Does anyone know if it's possible to change the angle of the palette knife? The option in the brush editor is greyed out. Seems a bit odd to have a pallete knife that you can only use horizontally. :\
[EDIT - hmn, seems that the stylus tilt controls the direction of the palette knife in painter and the tablet at work doesn't support tilt.]

Thx all very much!
... well, im not as happy with it, but the artists point of view is a bit different.
Wassup, like the man with the coat.
Flush, your speedpaintings are really great everytime - especially your metal-effects!
Mikko, great values!
And you're right about this place ... great place, everyone have to agree! _________________ Lars Gtze

great work everyone!
Samurai Night Fever. This one ended its life as a speedpaint when the structure presented me with big problems that made me sit over three hours with it, used parts of the fire from an old painting.
so I am making it up with posting these traditional outdoor sketches/studies I did just when my summer vacation from school began.
a watercolor
study of rocks
study of a tree top
and an acrylic study from a ref (really just to test my new acrylic paints, new brand)

Ceenda--you have to tilt your pen in other directions to change the angle.
Pierre--You really need a website. |
