Hi there!
Finally I found my old account and some time to get drawing again.
This took about four hours of working time and it is my first attempt in color.
This is the reference:
Okay, a few words to the technique I used. In photoshop, I first created the geometry for the proportions and then copied those lines over (I know, I know... but only half-cheated). Then I looked up a base skin color (see the back of the head) and modified that one on the fly. The image is in it's original resolution, meaning that my crappy computer already freaks out at 800x600
What I realize I need to work on and that I haven't tried:
- adjust the eyebrow (looks unreal on both ends)
- get the 'hair' right
- add the ear
- get the contour for the beard right
What I tried and don't have a concept for:
- get the 'ala of the nose' (dictionary) and nostrill right. the shade looks weird
- get the overall colors right. Looks sorta real now, but I don't know how to make it look less 'waxy' and artificial.
Thanks for your suggestions. Paintovers welcome as always. |

Well, it looks pretty decent right now, but it still does not present a very three dimensional image to me. I would try adding some darker red colors for the areas around the eyes, nose, mouth, all of that stuff should be darker. Also the , iguess shaved head in your photo is a lot darker and has a greater variant in shades and colors that your painting does. I hope that helps! All the features and such are nice though, so keep it up. Also, if you want you could change the background to black, as it may help you with copying from the reference. _________________ "There is no such thing as a mistake, just happy accidents" - Bob Ross |
