watmough: thanks, no refs.
XIA: nice helmet design. I think I saw this piece before ...
Roma: you seem pretty confident with light too. more please!
ax--hv: wooh, that's a nice piece. although the neck seems a little out of proportion, the color sheme, the tricky light and the amazing perspective compensate any flaws.
jokua: aw ... cute! *hugs*
Novacaptain: haha. very nice, made me laugh. About the lightsource thing: yeah. your absolutely right. But I don't know whether or how it works with a different angle. Guess I'll try it someday. thanks for the imput!
Railk: nice
RasselTassel: love the flow in your paintings. looks somehow traditional.
Cicinimo: amazing. I also checked out your website. funny and entertaining, as well as fabulous and very professional!
dylancole: yeah brilliant!
Supervlieg: thanks! no refs.
more breast feature. I'm not really happy with it, because I tried to achieve something else.

Igino: I want to see faces!!! Very sexy tho..
Spooge: this last painting reminds me of Sargent.
Dylancole: Very impressed by your technique. Quick question: do you start your paintings background to foreground or do you work everything at once?..
RasselTassel: interresting style, I really like the first one.
A lil' creech..

Obvious ref or obvious ref? From the movie poster of Teh passion of Gandalf... I mean Christ. Great movie and the poster is so dramatic.

This never got past its abstract phase, inspired by Sparth's robot walker.

Sweet. So we Got AOL Dial Up today!! woo hoo. haha it took me like 2 hours get just 30 of my new artworks on my website www.chrismayernik.com
I have a lot of new speed paintings on my site but here are some ones that I thought you might enjoy. . There were no references used for any of them, and all of the paintings were created in Painter IX in a hour or less.
I still have dial up and none of the images here load quickly so I turned of images just so I can post mine. I do remember seeing some art by dylancole That blew me away. I really enjoy your lastest speed paintings dylancole! .
OK Later everyone.

Probably seems like I watched Aladdin but actually it was Big Fish that entertained me for the last 2 hours.. go figure
Barontieri, Dylan, Spooge: great pics! As long as this thread is going full steam I won't run out of inspiration/motivation.. seeing all the awesome work makes you realize how little you actually know

I see futuristic cities posted on various art forums just about everyday, but they are usually the same ripped off shit over and over. Now, THIS is a good design. |

barontieri, that rocky part of that painting is so amazingly cool...wow you are awesome.
and viag,i like everything i've seen from you!
this is my last speedpaint for welll.. an indefinite period.
i've done what i set out to do.and that is what you guys inspired me to do,
work to make complete artistic statements in one sitting..
i have some other things i want to work on,namely to try and develop something original(i am completely styleless, after all),and DRAW.
i feel like drawing is the key to good art(thanks spooge!)and thats EXACTLY what i'm going to do.
i cant begin to express in words what you guys have meant to me in terms of inspiration.
extra amazingly special props to matthew, gecko, allpetter, elliot, mitsui, ryanpaul, hpx, capt fred, capt flushgarden, balistic,,sparth, max kulich,xia,rolthryn,swarm,spooge.....thanks guys!

Spooge, I'm strongly taking your words into account. I can see why you say work the warm and cool colours first, and i often neglect how light and the environment affect the local colour. . . . I guess thats how things can get out of hand and just plain messy even from the start. I'll try steering away from the poor habits and post a very quick one next time with warm & cool greys. btw, love your last one !!
Made this after reading your post so, disregard it. . .
