I live in a college town. Second largest Mardi Gras in US happens here. Its a fucking riot every year. The whole downtown is nothing but bars. The women here are gorgeous.
My friend works as a bouncer at a couple of these bars. He is also a level 60 something in that RLR (Real Life Replacement) game. He gets approached constantly by college girls... you know what he talks to them about? Yeah... his incredible adventures in MORDOR (or whatever the fuck its called in WoW). Its mind poison. I really mean it... uninstall it and toss the disk. Don't hide it, toss out of a window of a moving car on a freeway.
We are going to have a generation of frustrated, desperate, suicidal, MMORPG playing, 30 year old male virgins in less than a decade. These guys will feel cheated out of life and very dangerous.

That's what spirituality is for dude. Don't be such a dick. People do what they like and that is the story of their own lives. There is no need to project your quasi-reproductive-party-culture ideologies onto other people.
From what you just wrote, I assume that you're suggesting everyone to abandon their computer games, don tight jeans, trendy hairstyles, and head to your "college town sex-ville" in order to experience life at its fullest? It strikes a nerve with me when people have the audacity to claim that their personal experience of life is the only valid way to go about living. Granted, men all have penises, but this doesn't mean that everyone sees life exactly as you do. As far as I'm concerned, it is this kind of blindly aggressive, ignorant, and dehumanizing mentality that does far more damage to the world than people not getting laid. |

They've convinced maybe millions of people worldwide to KEEP paying them for the game they already BOUGHT to continue playing said game which one can't actually BEAT.
Drunken Monkey is right too. There are billions of other people right outside your front door, and you don't have to pay to see them...

Imo most people don't treat mmorpgs as an alternative way of life but as a game, they may be taking it all their time but its still an entertainment/time killer not a real life replacement.

It gets more interesting when people can earn real money though, like with CS tournaments or mmorpgs like Project Entropia. The difference between that and playing online poker, or online stock market trading etc is not that big imo...

I think the funny thing is I don't play MMORPGs Drunken Monkey. The fact that you assumed that I was defending them out of some deep passion or addiction to them like the friends you described leads me to believe we have a little misunderstanding.
I was reacting more to the hostile way you responded to the posts above. By "spirituality" I meant having compassion or making a genuine effort to respect people and their habits even if they seem to be self-destructive. It doesn't do any good to scream in their face about how much of a loser they are for not being different or seeing things in a way that you would understand. |

I just upped my undead priest to llv 25 yesterday, keep bashind those bloodfury harpies in stonetalon mountains and "wam!" i get that extra talent point, I have no idea where to put it so i guess ill further develop my shadow talents, today i have set a goal to reach lvl 26 and bash some alliance heads in stonetalon, wish me luck!

| As right as you are with lots you say Drunken Monkey, there are people out there that are exactly the opposite of the locked in mmorpg nerds. And I know that those people are equally bad, out of personal experience. They might be able to get laid as much as they want, but that doesn�t mean they have the mad social skills either. Some just lie, are arrogant, intolerant and steaming piles of shit. You just can�t generalize people like that, but then I only say that because I play WoW due to the fact that I can�t get laid. |
