jmascho: nice paintings. I love your detailing and textures. Your colours are also spot on Surprised

Buzzz3d: Thanks for the advice. I like your stuff, especially in the speed painting thread.

Annis: I love your ship. Great colour choice and detailing Very Happy Thanks for the critique.

Petri: Wonderful abstractions. That saturated red and yellow one is great. The simplification in your first one was nice also Very Happy I love your stuff in general.

Matthew: The simplicity in your paintings is great. I can never do that with a few brushstrokes. Guess it just takes a lot of practice Confused

Capt. Fred: I love the colours in that. Great pallette. Perspective is alright - just a tiny bit off in the bottom half.

Weirdowe: Thanks. I love your pallette too Very Happy Nice colour usage, especially where you put opposite colours in the shadows.

Seth1: great simplification and colour. I think you should add more detailing Wink

The Three Sisters

Heh. I'm too slow; must've taken me like 1 and a half hours. I know some of the shapes are a bit wonky. I wasn't paying too much attention to proportion.

I also have trouble deciding on a colour pallette. I started off with a bright saturated orange, then it changed until I'm left with a muted brown.

Do you guys use the colour picker a lot? Obviously not on the actual reference but on the colours you've already laid down.

About 1.5 hours? Most spent fiddling around with that damned symbol too.

Erm, is it okay if I do vectors on here? This thread looks like quite a bit of fun, but I can undestand vectors being a little off-topic. Delete this post if it's really out of place.

Seth1: yah Very Happy
And thanks Choboroy. Here's next on the same subject.. I think it's time to move on.
And to Japong, you can paint with your eyeballs and post it here is you like. It doesn't matter what method you use. The result is the what counts.

The Jeep was enough pain in the ass already, so I decided to keep the guy out of it at least.

Petri.J: Very cool.

Gabuzzir: In Photoshop click and Shift Click somewhere else. Only works with pressure turned off for the brush.

Better luck next time.

To everyone that posted something: Shocked woah. Beautiful works Petri, Gabbuzir, Glitterbug, scallywag, Neff and octavian.

Hoot!

It looks better in thumbnail form. My owl's a bit fat too... Well, at least I think I got most of the values right.

PS: Hey Matthew, could you add some large close up face photos? I need some practice with portraits.

choboroy, I am not gonna add anymore reference to this thread, the reason why there are not many humans and faces is because that bigfoto didn't have much of it, not a lot of them that was good anyway. Also, better not add a big quantity of pictures which are not legal, bigfoto approved of usage of their photos, however now when I think of it I can't be sure that all of those are legal though.
Think I have seen that Napoleon tomb photo elsewhere, might have been that documentary about remote viewing, hmm.

maybe u can re-open that self portrait thread if you wanna focus on faces and such, just a tip.

ok see you
Matthew

Thanks buzzz3d and choboroy. Octavian, great. I like especially that second one.

I tried to bring words in to practice. I don't remember who said this (some time a go) in da speedpaint thread, but it got me thinking.
"It's all about not shouting out form, but whispering it.
Not telling more than the viewer needs, to understand the form."

Buzz3d: Thanks. I dig your latest. Nice. I didn't notice that one or I would have chosen it too!
Petri J. YOur doing some interesting stuff. I dig the minimalism. I'll have to try and "whisper" form instead of scream it as I tend to do.
Choroboy: cool hooters man!

everyone is kicking ass. Thanks again matthew for starting this thread.

heres a real quickie, still trying various things.

Thank you choboroy. I hope Ill achieve the level you just showed with the owl sometime. Looks great.

Damn octavian, you gave that mountainscape some magical lighting, very nice.
That field + cloud one; do I spot the photoshop grass brushes in there?

buzzz3d - some seriously nice stuff goin on there, especially that last one with the clouds.

Heres mine for today. Bit on the fuzzy side I know.
