One of my teachers once told that there's lots of crazy stuff in Austrian / Swiss museums. "See a body of a two headed mutant child stored in formaldehyde!" type stuff. That's their idea of entertainment |

I don't know man . . . they look like subscription cards that would fall out of an issue of Wired while you leafed through it.
And the fifty reminds me of my kidney stone. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Well I agree with most comments on the subject matter, my like towards some of these is mainy from a standpoint of graphic design. The execution is nice, and I especially love the 200 solar system piece. As for skulls, embryos and such, I'm not going to argue there, as it is strange stuff indeed. _________________ - Tom Carter

well you know, I didn't like even the execution. So... you know, unprofessional looking. I mean, black to white grads on top of mega saturated colors huh?? And white with colors and.. sorry, I saw that stuff when I was into noob web design and people were starting out with Photoshop :S |

Ranath, I respectfully disagree with you on your subjective comment concerning unprofessionalism, as your comments seem to suggest an influence towards web design, which these obviously are not. It's a different format, and the purpose is different. This collection also doesn't likely represent the finished product in terms of size and prepress output (since these are a compressed for web collection).
These are easy to not like and for obvious reasons as posted by some here, but the mechanics of these are well done. _________________ - Tom Carter

While I am glad our Euros werent designed like that, but more of a classic approach, I have to say that there is something about the saturated colors that I like.
Also at first I thought the black and white photos pasted on one side of the notes look horribly awful, but then I realized that is probably the stuff embedded in the note that you only see against UV light or something similar.
edit: Oh and Mikko K - what IS better entertainment than two headed foetuses in a jar of formaldehyde? |

The format is irrelevant - you can take something well designed and apply it to something completely different and it will work. In this case.. definitely not the case - not good designs IMO. Design in general, however, is subjective, so it's pointless to argue. If these were to be new euros, I would start paying with card everywhere.
What comes to my comment about web design, the point was that these look exactly something that beginners do with Photoshop, and not professional money design. So my point actually had nothing to with web design at all, rather it pointed out the unprofessional look of these. Compare them to euros, and you see what I mean. |

What? The format is relevent, and these look nothing like beginner work.
That's my opinion, and as a well paid graphic and UI designer. _________________ - Tom Carter

I also think there's no taste at all in those colours; the black and white gradients on saturated colors and white are very cheap indeed. The pictures are nice tho, I'm sure that with a better and simpler color choice it would look nice. _________________ http://mv.cgcommunity.com/ |

I like them, especially thematically. The important areas of modern scientific innovation seem a better theme than, say, dead people to me. |
