Hi,
im kinda pissed cuz my nvidia 3d stereo doesnt work! i have no idea why. wether i chose "enabled" or "enabled by hotkey" or anything..it never works -_- the test application always looks like non-3d-stereo. anybody have an idea why? i tried launching some games and they are ALWAYS non-3d-stereo also only quake 3 worked with r_stereo "1" enabled. i dont understand this...and yeah, my eyes work for 3d stereo vision also. i just dont get why the heck not even the test application works -_- (and btw the winamp milkdrop plugin 3d-stereo mode works perfectly for me..another proof my eyes are alright )
i use the same driver version as 3d-stereo driver version. both is 91.31 (orso..at least the proper one from the website im supposed to use).
*update*
ok i reinstalled all the drivers and made sure again its same verisons. well now i have a very stupid problem. my pc restarts EVERYTIME i klick "launch test application". or any game. no matter how low i set the refreshrate and resolution -_- my screen supports 100hz in 1024*768 and 120hz(140?) in 640*480, so i dont think it SHOULD make problems. but sadly it does. So now that it's working, does it work well?
I'm curious abnout the quality of 3d/headache factor with this. I understand it works with any source or game, right? |

as long as the source supports direct 3d/opengl , yes. actually its working very well, the only side effect is, that im using cheap paper red/cyan glasses and not like "real" 3d glasses with 2 small screens. so in games the colors are quite...red and cyan like imho its useless to play online shooters like this, cuz usually the crosshair doesnt get the 3d-effect...so u have like 2 crosshairs and thats a bit hard to aim. but it depends on the game. some games from a list get a special "3d depth" crosshair from the driver. i didnt check if u can add games to the list, but i guess u can. imho i think its mostly for fun (with red/cyan glasses...with real 3d glasses it can be different) and works best with games that arent too fast. otherwise my feeling is that my brain is too busy with concentrating on movement, aiming etc. so the 3d effect gets a bit lost.
headache wise...personally i can stand it well, on the other side theres my mum who just puts on the glasses and "already gets headache"
and for the 3d quality i uploaded screens so u can check (if u have red/cyan glasses but they should be easy to get anywhere):
u can see the 3d effect in half-life 2 is not so good. e.g. the crosshair(s) and everything seems a little off.
due to the compression the pics look worse anyway than in "real" cuz of colors change etc.[/img]
totally i think its more for fun than for anything serious. for serious 3d stereo work you should consider getting 3d shutter glasses and a screen which supports 120 hertz and up in ur desired resolution, or the more expensive variant would be to buy an actual 3d stereo screen.
http://www.lightspacetech.com/ more for doctors i think
http://www.reald.com/scientific/zscreen.asp 6000$ only
http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/body_seereal_cn.html the kind of screen that fits most on a "normal" table i think sadly in german only.
*edit* last note: ingame u can change the strength of the 3d effect, so u can fit it to ur own eyes. _________________ quit pro quo |

I have edimension shutter glasses, the effect is a must see (even low poly games look kinda cool and "fresh") but couldn't get them to work with 3ds max a while back when I used them. Since then two of my CRT monitors have broken down so I haven't used the glasses for a while now and they don't work well with LCD monitors. If it works with 3ds Max now I might consider buying a good CRT just to use them.. it's so much easier to model when you don't have rotate the camera to see at what distance certain point is.
That pretty much sums up my short experience with 3d glasses. _________________ www.TimoVihola.com
