thanks bacon. nice values on that one.
some stuff for R. Pietruska at art center at night:
too tempted to do 3/4 views, even though he didn't ask for them.
testing markers. will be more careful in teh strokes next time. I didn't do the sky tone too well. Too bad you can't really mix different colors too well . I keep trying to render like i paint with acrylics or oils.

some moree
20 minutes each- from design to finish. Using the "photo copy" method, where I just photocopied a set of wheels 40 times, and just draw over them. I regret finding such small degree ellipses though...
Assignment is to ONLY render on copy paper... It's killing my markers.

annisahmad: you after some feedback? If so: it might just be the photos, but all your vehicle concepts have a bit of a murky look about them. If that exists in the original image, you might want to look about creating that clean, vibrant look that you see in professional car concepts. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

sumaleth> im taking pics with my cell. so... it might be that. I'll try to post better pictures from now on. Lets see if it still seems murky. My aim so far has been to concentrate on design and good perspective with a decent 1,2,3 read |

sumaleth> I finally got to scan one of my recent ones. Hopefully it looks better and is what you meant.
doing this for a contest entry. They don't want it to be too crazy, and so, it's a bit on the conservative side. 2 different designs.
the perspective is a little wonky. I've just been doing yachts and other things for the past month or so, so these are the first 2 car sketches in a whilleee.

dsg> those are sick, man! really liking the expressive line-work. makes it stand out alot!
Been doing some offroad entertainment stuff myself. trying out a new technique with combining certain colors.... still trying to equal it out. need to work on my freehand ellipses... they're all off

thanks Mikko! Means alot coming from you .
starting art center's trans program in 2 days... SO NERVOUS! Trying to prepare by doing some draw-through stuff. For some reason, every time I go into full "draw-through" mode, I seem to replicate Scott's design language in one way or another. Not a bad thing, but not a good thing either- I don't want to be a copycat. So... i'm trying to work on that.

Annis- other than it being sketched in a similar manner, i don't think it is
copying Scott's design language. Just don't leave AC only drawing
hovercraft and spaceships And i agree with Mikko, marker sketches are
hawt.
I might be a TA in VC1 on Mondays starting next week, See you there possibly! |

I give in, as Art Center's grip begins to tighten around my throat...
It's fun though. I'm having a blast at the moment- but I had to get away from the millinos of straight lines!
As you can see, I'm already forgetting my marker technique.

Cool burger Annis!
Since I hate the Cayenne Turbo, I think it's fun to experiment with the same shapes to see what makes or brakes the design for me.
EDIT: Ofcourse the rims are photo insets....

cool sukhoi! I gotta look into your technique- I think it's very cool for industrial design sketches. You added the noise filter when you were finished? I never know exactly how to add that grain well. |

annis, DSG, Sukhoi, you three just filled an awesome page! Different styles, but all have their own characteristics. I especially dig DSG's rough sketchpage from May 9th. Made my day! _________________ CA SB|Flickr |
