Godzilla Was Matthew > Good to see you back. Talking about good artist. Oohoho. I meet craig mullin.~! at a talk in singapore.~! CGoverdrive quite a few weeks ago. He was giving a talk and it was very inspiring. He say alot but there's this few sentense that keep coming back. He said as we grow with experience, we either grow more opinionistic or we realise we don't know anything at all. Haa. It sounded very zen but i feel there's so much in that sentense. He also say somethign about we are kind of like inventor. We invent our own visual vocal. So. Seeing it from that view i feel anything is possible and the line of right and wrong become smaller. Kind of sounded very cheesy typing it out here but yeah. Ha. I'm so happy that day i feel like stalking him. Ha. But naa..~ happy to have seen him anyway.

Youre latest pieces are great RayToh! The lineart is sick, and I'm sick of envy. If you refine them more colorwise you'll be the new Craig Mullins on this forum no doubt. |

Raytoh, thank you for sharing and thanks again. You sure paint interesting.
Torstein, really like that big rock thingy.
oh my oh my, gonna take time to get back to some kind of portraying without getting the comfort into breaking it down into abstract.
Perhaps abstract is giving the artist too much freedom? lol perhaps you see this piece as abstract aswell?
oh well guess I need practise

fripp - 200 eh.
Hmm exploring what kind of detail the piece could get, think I am all over the place though.
Think I get an idea in my head that usually is further ahead than what I paint.

great work guys! nice to hear about craig raytoh
matthew-you finally doing illustrative now!? lol, must be something attractive about that cop car from the way the robot is handling it
fripp-nice to see this progression.
reaper- i love the construction of this (fantastic action)-but have you considered going soft on some edges? i think it could be stronger with that sort of hierarchy, because they all compete for my attention at once as is.
tried rethinking the lego ice explorer doode, painted a crappy acrylic then blotted it out in ps-might try redoing an acrylic like the one in ps. I'm finding out that the easiest stuff to paint is often the most important, so im trying to paint easy to difficult now-which by the time it gets to the hard stuff it isnt hard anymore. I think lots of good pictures are made of of easy goals but its like an onion so they build up into layers of complexity.... maybe this is what people mean when they talk about "simplifying"

Godzilla was Matthew - im pretty excited to see what you come up with now! If you can combine some of the confident brushwork and good compositions of the more abstract paintings with some good character and environment visual storytelling then i am expecting great results!! Keep posting!

lemur: thats actually what i want for the viewers, that they look at several areas of interest in a single image, i want to play around with the attention. I personally like to have sharp edges, there are some soft transitions, they might not be perceived as brushstrokes though.
found an old sketch on my ext HD
