OK before I post it on the site I will give you guys some updated information on the contest. The need is just a logo, not an entire menu bar or anything, I got that covered. The logo should be at 300 dpi (i like to be able to scale it to any size and not lose anything in the proccess and that's the only way I know how to preserve image quality).
To give you an idea of what I am looking for take a look at the logo for Voodoo Extreme (http://www.voodooextreme.com). Their logo is fun, and I want this logo to be fun. Anime may be a serious art form but the site is going to be a lite and fun place to visit.
As for the prizes, I am working with someone at AD Vision on possibly sponsoring the contest. If they agree there will be a cash prize for first place. Otherwise I have some things to fall back on. There will be at the very least a WACOM tablet, some Software (things like Commercial Plugin Packages for Photoshop) and some other hardware. Maybe a nice high end graphics card. Oh, and of course Anime and Games. Rest assured whoever makes the cut will be well taken care of, as will the first few runners up.
More details soon. I should nail things down with AD Vision, WACOM, Adobe and nVidia by the weekend, Monday at the latest.

The text should be Anime Extreme
The site is http://www.animeextreme.com
There is no tag line for the site yet, Like "Your #1 source for anime news, art and previews" but if people have suggestions I am always open.

Um, the DPI doesn't make any difference. It just determines, what size the image will be printed at. If you type the dimensions of the image in pixels, the DPI doesn't matter.
On screen, the image won't be any more accurate if it's 300 DPI, than it is at 72 dpi. At 300 dpi, the printed image would be sharper, but also smaller.
Maybe you should specify a size?

Submissions should be sized like this:
Original - 1500X600 PSD format.
Submitted for consideration - 360X144 JPG format.
The finalists of the contest will be required to provide the 1500X600 version before a winner will be chosen and prizes awarded.

Good god........ Okay tho... =P
What color Background do you want.
Black White Red Orange Yellow?
They call me mellow yellow.... LOL.....
I am assuming if you want it on a letter head or something it would have to be white. |

1500x600 really isn't that big, I usually work with huge images all day long. The smallest being around 2500x3500. You really wouldn't want to go any smaller then 1500x600 for a logo. Depending on what you print to, that's only gonna give you a 5"x2" size.
As for the layers, I really hope that we don't have to keep alllll of our layers available. Usually I'll be working with so many layers that I'm forced to combine some just to save space |

Just some thought:
At your work you probably work on a 19inch or higher monitor. Most home users have only a 15inch, which at max is viewable w/o eyestrain 1280x1024. And, thats if you have a good video card. So It's hard to work on that kind of space But I can see the importance. Also, as long as an original image is in the PSD format, you can resize it w/o any major distortions - so you don't have to have layers do you? |

i'm assuming that you want all the layers seperated also?.. or can we flatten the image to hide our strategies from the world?
with something this size i would most likely have at least 20-30 layers, just to make it look perty |

The original should be layered, but the jpg that you submit for consideration, that everyone will see, will need to be flattened.
The purpose of the layered psd file for the finalists is ease of use for me. I may need to size and convert the logo for use on letterhead or envelopes, or advertisements.
I plan on taking an ad out in Animerica magazine 1Qtr 2000. So the winner is going to get some good exposure.

Kusanhagi, what colour scheme are you thinking of for the redesign? 'cause that would probably help in tying the logo into the rest of the site...

The site will have a black background, so design accordingly.
You don't need to preserve all the layers of you logo, but I do need there to be a background layer than can be changed on the fly to meet the color needs of t-shirt proofs or advertising needs.
You can submit as many designs as you like.
