I just finished this one, but as always, there is room for improvement. I used painter for this one.
I'm not too sure about all the dead space, but it keeps it from being so cramped. I didn't want a background in there I was only concerned with the character, too much stuff and it would not fit the story, BTW I'll post a link to the story when it's published if anyone is interested.
let em rip folks..I'm off to draw and shade some primitive shapes now..weeeeee

That's just amazing. Nice use of colors. Very pleasant to look at, and yet, really weird too.
-Just a thought, though: Try working a bit with the edge of the inside of the face/mask. The bolts just end in a dark nothing.
Anyways -great work!

I think the right hand, mainly the index finger is too flat. it just seems like it is a slab rather than a finger. the left hand thumb looks small, but im probably hallucinating or just confused by the shadow.
i really like your stuff, i saw all the other illustrations and that you have done on your site...as well as all the other stuff i saw. ( ireally like the claws!) keep it up man. |

Hey I really like this one, cool work man.
For some crit I would say..Something bout his head... I think it would be better if there was more kinda machinery indented into his head that the wires were entering. The wires on his traps look really good, something about the shading makes it look like they are sticking out of his top tho (maybe they are meant to, im not sure) if not maybe if it wasnt shaded on the left inside area itd proply look less like that.
All in all that is nice work Sam! |

Very nice image Samdragon. The stuff on his
shirt reminds me a bit of tron. I like the
idea behind it.

Hey folks, thanks for the input.
I can't rework it rightnow, but I am keeping track of your suggestions.
ruyter: I agree, the bolts just end in nothing I'll certainly have to fix that.
Moose: I wasn't too concerned with the detail in the hands, but you are right. I'll fix that also.
Cos: Yeah, I fought with myself about putting machinery in his head, but I decided to leave it as is, I think it adds more mystery to what is going on. Yeah those wires are really hard to read in this version but they are kinda floating above his skin and also fading into his skin. I'll have to rework that some more.
Kyri: Hmmm I never thought about it, but it reminds me of Tron also. Good memory you got there.
I thank you all for you help and critiques. I am always looking for ways to improve my skills and having such a diverse group of people giving feedback is a great way to do it! Thanks
