A local movie theatre ran an Anime triple feature last night. 5 hours of Anime films. Of course I had to be there
It was actually the first time I saw Anime films. The films shown were Akira, Perfect Blue and Ghost in the Shell.
I didn't like Akira too much. The visuals were great, but the story didn't appeal to me.
Perfect Blue was far better. What I liked about the story was that you didn't really understand what was going on until very near the end of the film. What I didn't like about Perfect Blue was that they filmed real locations and put the drawn characters on them. That just didn't blend smoothly.
The best of the three was IMHO Ghost in the Shell. Visuals and Music were stunning, and the story was good as well.
Well, after having seen my first three Anime films, I like the genre more and more..... can anyone recommend any other good Anime films that I might want to see ? And what do you think about the three films I just saw ?

uh. it's Nausica. not nadesuica or whatever.

the visions of escaflowne stuff is pretty nice. at least the movie is.

(if you have bandwidth, just ask. also gots the whole lain/ninja scroll/mononoke hime/kare kano/lodoss/ yadda dadda dadda deal in decent quality mpeg's and whatnot. that is, if you-like you should-won't buy them for whatever reason,)

the record of lodoss war stuff is decent. stereotypic cliche'd fantasy stuff but nice nevertheless.

fist of the north star!

I've recently been watching a wonderful series called Trigun. Its comedic but it has wonderful bouts of seriousness when it needs it. And you cant help but love the main character Vash the Stampead, The Huminoid Typhoon.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone.
Guess it's time for a visit to Terminal 3ntertainment next week, my favorite Manga/Anime/SciFi/Fantasy Stuff Store .

Oh yeah, faust, still without decent bandwith until march.... That's when DSL is coming to town.
What bothers me a bit is that just a village up the road they already got it.
Guess that`s what you get from living in a small fucked up German village.

Hm, try Neon Genesis Evangelion. I guess you will like it, since you liked Ghost in the Shell.

I don't think that Appleseed is good. I've seen some pics and it didn't impress me at all.

appleseed isnt that great and either is neon genesis evangelion.

i would have to say evangelion is better than a lot of the crap out there, and it was very entertaining.

i just saw this anime called "x," it doesnt go on my must haves list; but it is a quality movie.

I said I THINK. You're right, I haven't seen it yet and believe it or not, I know what's in there. I know the story and to be honest it didn't impress me at all. By the way, do you like it?

Appleseed is fairly boring as an anime.

Check out Battle Angel.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Macross Plus
Vampire Hunter D
Record of Lodoss War

Spitfire: I've seen Appleseed a few times. It's ok though the animation is starting to get a little dated.
