I've spent all my free time for the past five days on this pic, and I'm afraid I'm getting fed up with only so little left to paint.. please point out any parts that need more attention in terms of proportion (the hand?), light direction... anything that comes in mind, really.
Composition might not be the best possible, since I added the right half of the pic later, after painting the left half to what it looks like now.
The original resolution of the pic is 1920x1920, this being 50% in size. It's hand painted with no reference used so far, well I looked at my hand a couple of times :]. Anyway take a look, I'm a bit tired so I'll get some sleep (Isn't this how I always end my posts and then stay up for another 4 hours until it's 3 AM?)
And the statues are not covered in vegetation because the remnants of the indian tribe is still loyal to the sacred totems!
And those of you who didn't see the finished version of the green veggiesaur-pic, here you go:
Thanks.

This is amazing! I love the vegetation!
Uhh ... you want a critic or something ... uh ... the thumb looks weird and the other fingers are a bit too rounded. However, being an statue means it doesn't need to be an anatomically perfect hand, IMHO.
Great work!

Wow, thats pretty fantastic looking! I like it alot. I especially love the natural colors you have used, superb, really makes you feel like you are in that enviroment.
A few things I noticed though:
1) I think you should add some natural lighting to the water, kinda seems like a werid color you got going on with the water, different anyways from the upper part of the painting. with that said I think it would look stunning if you added some casted shadows over the water and some reflections.
2) The Bird in front looks out of place. his eyes look cartoony. You might want to try adding some detail to it.
Well theres MHO. Good luck on finishing it too!

Supercool, vegetation and lightning is amazing. Will there be water in the unfinished foreground? Would give the entrance an even more mystical touch if you have to get over the water to get there. Know what I mean? (sometimes Im not sure if my english transports what I mean : )) |

Gecko, both those images are fabulous...I love them! They're very pleasing to the eye, and evoke a powerful mood. Keep up the good work!

Wooow, awesome stuff Gecko, the realism of the plants, and just light& atmosphere. Nice nice!
Does feel a bit crowded, yes, but it's a "cozy" crowded.
GJ!

I really like the top one. it has that relaxing rainforest feel. It really feels as if the viewer is below the canopy.
Nice detailing to. It will be fantastic if you finish it. |

Awesome stuff, Gecko. You pick some great subjects to paint. The lighting in both of them really adds so much. Great job on both of the rainforest theme pics!
