Help.
I have a ghetto network connecting me to a laptop. (I know it's quite small...) but I share the internet with it (i'm the server) I have a cable modem and it is connected to me via a 'lil hub thingamajigger and thus we are supposed to be networked and such. I use an app called Wingate and it is a piece of shit. I have been using it for some time now. However when I turn my comp off for extended periods of time (like from the vacation I just got back from) it goes Kaput. So now Nobody is showing up on the network and the laptop is internetless. YES all the cables are hooked up and the cable modem is blinking happily along with the hub and all the network cards. Everything seems like it SHOULD be working and yet it does not. SO, my question for all ye esteemed peoples of technical stuff. What the hell could be wrong? And/or do you have any ideas at how I could fix it or other ways to share internet? Prices for things like routers and stuff? Other apps that I might consider using as Wingate sux ass. oh yah, here is wingate ok then? help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

unplug everything at once, wait 10 minutes, plug back in. power strips make this easy, just unplug it.
should work after this. ifnot, hah.

I used sygate in a win98 network with another computer some time ago and it worked fine.
maybe you want to give it a try-
however the blinking on your modem will probably not be a problem caused by wingate.

Well folks it's 1 am here and thanks to Nex's advice I got the internet working again with SyGate. The network is up and purring like a kitten. Thanks, (Ian now kisses the world) I feel happy, happy!
