Can anyone recommend a quality paper that comes in sheets? Good for pencil/charcoal/ink? I love Canson Esquisse and Ingres, but as far as I can tell Canson doesnt make bundles of sheets (like how printer paper is sold) Something similar and acidfree, standard 8x11" or so in size is what I'm shooting for.

It's been a long time since I went out shopping for paper, and that was on a different continent... do they have Schoellerhammer in the States? How about Arches? Crescent (american right)? Just find the biggest store in your area, buy one sheet of everything, mark each sample, and test the hell out of it.

I agree with Stephen - Arches or Crescent. Looks like you're in Minnesota, so I don't know what's up yonder. Look for Sam Flax, earl Art Supplies or maybe Dik Blik. Look for them oline - Pearl's is a favorite of mine.

If you have the money, you should get Stone Henge paper. It's a bit thick and it's good for pencil, charcoal, watercolour, and even oil. I really like it.

In minnesota you kinda screwed with art supplies, I am constantly reminded of this fact as I live here.

You can buy bristol pads in 9x12 sheets, they come with 20 pages. Strathmore tho, not the best stuff to work with, occasionally fibers will grab a fountain pen and muck up your hard work. Bristol is horrid for charcoal too.

bristol's a good bet. my illustrator friend uses it a lot for final drawings. it has a smooth texture you may or may not like though.

If you want to paint, I love Arches, I use these for my watercolors

They can be expensive, I'm in NJ and they cost 60$ for 140lb block at 25 sheet -- they are worth it, very durable and can take a beating
