Could someone please tell me what this Adobe Gamma thing is for?

I somehow have to configure the color management/monitor, because I get different colors in Photoshop and in windows.

I am using a SONY Triniton Multiscan 17sf monitor (quite old).

Basically the Adobe Gamma wizard is self explanatory. Once you go through it, it will save (or ask you to save) as your computers default icc profile. So every time windows loads up, it will load your default icc profile, which will be the adobe one. So things will look the same everywhere within windows and photoshop.

Gamma is a huge problem, I don't understand it much. Every computer is usally different, has different monitors and of course mac, pc etc.. all affect how the image looks on screen. The adobe gamma wizard is meant to help you standardize your setup so that images will look 'as they should' whatever that may be... (complex issue i know.)

Perhaps someone else knows can help more....
