i am finishing a degree at the one in chicago and it blows a$$. i would advise you to do more research before you spend some money. go somewhere you can actually learn from awesome professors that show work. don't go to a school where a bunch of hacks just dilly-dally around. research it hard man...trust me.

im a 5th quarter student at AI dallas.. it sucks when you compair what you get with how much it costs... ultimately you get out of it what you put into it. you can make a badass demo reel with the help of the instructors. the demo reel is why you go there in the first place.

i would suggest going to a university or junior college or CLEP and take your basics first:
english comp,
freshman english,
college math,
humanities,
psychology,
speech,
and LIFE drawing classes, at least 4.
i stress life drawing because its extremely important you learn how to draw the human form in this field. drawing skills are like gold.

this will shave off 36 hours which is about $12,000 in tuition.

the art institute is an extremely competetive place an can be very inspiring or it can be a huge waste of time and money, just depends on how hard you are willing to work.

hope that helps

oh yeah, my perspective is from that of a computer animation student, if you want to go for graphic/web design i would whole heartedly suggest you go to a different school.

Greetings,

I came across this on a gaming website. And This seems like to good to be true. And you know what the old saying for that goes....

Anyway Does anyone know anything about this school?

The Art Institue On-line

I'm intrested in the Game Art & Design Bachelor of Science Degree that they offer there. It's a four year course. I would like to know how reputable this school is? I would be greatful if anyone has anyinformation.

Thank you,

- Shawn

I don't really know what to say about it, I know a bit about the art institutes. There is one in Minneapolis MN which is close to me. They came to my school and did a little demonstration.

3 schools did demonstrations during the year AI was probably the best. the other two schools REALLY blew ass though. There are a ton of different AI schools throughout the country though.

Again I don't know what to say about this online course. I am sure you would benefit more from being around other people that you can talk to and collaborate with.

Since it is new you would probably be a bit of a guinea pig too, but if the price is right and you don't have time for anything else I would have to say give it a shot. It sure sounds intriguing.

Well obviously there are folks that don't like it. But why not? All I understand from the posts above is that the teachers don't show their work, and they dilly dally around, which I assume means that they either don't teach the class or don't produce any artwork. I'd like to know what problems you guys have with the school so I could try to aviod them, since I'm currently at AI Atlanta. Btw, I've seen work from most of my teachers, and the work the students here are showing is really inspiring.

So what should I keep an eye out for?
