I just opened my mailbox to find the following e-mail--no kidding. All the typos and grammatical slip-ups are his:
I took a look at your website, if you need a profesionnaly done website than reply to me. I create webtemplates and could customize one for you, for like $100. Your site would look much more profesionnal than
what you have now. A full website creation costs like $1000 bucks. But I sell my customized templates for $100. Please contact me for more details. My ICQ:93054406.
My reply:
--The fact that you've got spelling errors and phrases such as 'costs like $1000 bucks' in a supposedly 'professional' e-mail leaves me with serious doubts as to your abilities. I think if you want to drum up business
for yourself by sending SPAM, you should at least word it better, and run a quick spellcheck before you hit Send. Things like this just make you look like a high school kid out looking to make a bit of money. I
can't help but thinking to myself: 'If this fellow makes all these mistakes in a two-line e-mail, how many errors are there going to be in a 200-page site?'
Nope. I like my site, thanks...and no thanks.
--Socar Myles
Yeeeah. Sure. I want to hire THAT guy to do MY website! After all, he only made a FEW typos--and what difference will it really make if he links to idnex.html instead of index.html and writes me up as Soccer Myles? |

Funny yet sad. This kind of internet english is becoming far too common. Despite all the spell checkers and grammar checkers, many are too lazy or don't have a good enough command of english to use them properly.
For a long time, there were many worries about how calculators would make people useless at math. I believe this has happened. Now, with computers, one worries about the language skills of our computer generation.
I hate to sound too old in a Socar thread - especially since we all know Socar doesn't like feeling her age (26 is it?), but that's my rant on the same topic.
Later,
Radiater. (ps. that's the correct spelling ) |

You can always tell a genuine-100%-hardcore-professional businessman from the ICQ number they use. |
