This is a redesigned Sorina, I was not so happy with the way my original sorina came out. Anyhow, she is an elf whom commands her own army.
She has just fought a long hard battle so she will be somewhat dirtier in the rendered version. Also, her hair is supposed to be sweaty and messy after wearing that helmet all day……
The general posture is shown on top, sort of standing on her left leg and slouched to the left. (She’s exhausted)
Ultimately, she will be watching the sunset “reflecting” on what happened that day.
I would like to here your opinions.
***update****
I thought I'd throw her banner out there in the wind or something but not her hair (damp hair doesn’t move as much). The banner is in Latin so I’m going to let you guess what it says (If I got it right). Also, I like the image like it is so much I may do the background the same way and call this a finished Black&White. I will of course do a rendered version as well.
Question??!!!?!?!
What is the best way to color something that will be flooded with orange light (sunset)? My first thought is to color it like I normally would and create a layer over that and filling it with transparent orange, erasing where necessary. I’m sure there’s a better way, maybe a tutorial?

Great work!
I like everything from the chest and up. Especially her face and hair.
But I think you have to work more on the cape and the hand griping the helmet.
The inside of the cape is to dark, there should be some light there. Reflective light from the armor for example. The same goes for the inside of the helmet.
Anyways, great pic. |

Very nice sketch, Snakebyte. Her face looks almost perfect, but still has a visible expression of weariness. Even her hair looks sweaty!
The few crits I can offer is that you could sketch some extra strands on the smudged hair on her head to help make it look more untidy, and I think the forearm holding the helmet is too short.
Are you using the 3D skeletons up in the corner as pose guides? If so, that sounds like an good technique! |

Please Don’t… I don’t like competition. Doing so will make my job harder. Regardless of the outcome it may affect the way I see the end results as of now. But thanks for asking first I would have gotten pretty upset if you hadn’t and colored it anyway.
As for everything else, I’ll work on it right away. (Actually this is just a rough draft )
Heh, originally her arm was WAY too long, so I shortened it a little and it now looks too short, but her hand is at crotch level so its kinda hard to lengthen it without making it look too long again, but I’ll try….
Oh, the 3d stick figures were actually made after the rest of the picture; they are for your benefit. I was afraid that know one would see the way she was standing the way I did.
