I don't know if any of you checked out Bradford's Topic on a person making a
sick ass Columbine Shooting game.....so I put
a more to the point topic title....
This should be stopped.....
sign the petition.....please
I'm no Christian, but I still don't advocate
celebrating such acts of violence......
The game maker argues about Free Speech.......Well, It's our Free Speech to shut him the fuck down......
All we all need is more pressure put on
media as a source of influence. This game
is everything that should not be rideculed
or taken jokingly.......
Go to his post---Sad But True----
and see it yourself...

No, it's not. It's our Constitutional right as Americans to sign petitions and protest and post threads on forums about how heinous this game really is. But that's where our rights stop.
You see, the Constitution also states that we as Americans have a guaranteed right to Freedom of Enterprise, meaning we can run any kind of business and make whatever game we want, as long as it's not in conflict with the law. This means that if we were to use our Freedom of Speech to shut them down, it would be unconstitutional.
The only POSSIBLE way we could shut them down, especially with Freedom of Speech, is to say that this game would create a clear and present danger to people. You could argue that turning the murder of children into a game demoralizes it, it degrades the victims, and it makes it okay for people to go on more shooting sprees. This would create a slippery slope, open a gateway, and whatever metaphor you want to use (release the floodgates, open the channels, create a torrent) with conservative Democrats (Lieberman and Gore, specifically) to call for an outright ban on ALL violent games, ALL violent movies and TV shows, and ALL violent books. They would argue that because one game can be dangerous, then all games of the same violent fiber must be violent as well. Of course, the Supreme Court would rule against this law banning all violence in the media, saying that it was violating Freedom of Speech, Press, and Enterprise.
But before you go and believe that this game is actually real, go and read some of the video game job threads. People are getting layed off by the hundreds, just for making games that didn't sell quite as well as Tribes 2. Keeping this in mind, consider who the hell would actually want to buy a Columbine shooter? Video games are about the buck, and video games that won't make a buck won't be made. I'm convinced that this game is about the equivalent of the petition email complaining about a movie in 2001 that portrayed JESUS HOLY CHRIST as being a HOMOSEXUAL!!!! (no such movie, and no such game) |

I don't know anything about this, but a friggin Columbine game, I don't think anyone will take seriously. In my opinion, it makes sense. If people want to extend their warped sense of disconnection and show even more how we're all fucked up, why stop them? Problems don't get fixed by repression and oppression. |

I don't think it's a commercial game. It appears to be just a mod some guy is doing in his spare time, so a petition wouldn't do any good.
Besides, there are a million horrible things going on in the world that are more worth becoming enraged with. |

Okay now that's sick... but what's the difference of that and a killer writing a book. Yeah it's sick (way sick), but that's how it goes... people will do anything for a buck. |
