What do you expect when you post at nearly 2am? Let your post brew for a day before you get all fiesty.
The image feels flat, like it's all on one plane. The shoulders don't look any closer to the viewer than the chestplate or the helmet. Work on giving the peices more depth with some less linear shading. Also watch your highlight usage. You're going overboard and making the highlights much longer than they should be. The light source that makes the highlights on some of the peices would have to be as big as the character him(it?)self. And work on keeping those highlights consistant. The plates on the abdoment look like they're highlighted from below, while the helmet is highlighted from the front, the neck from the side and above. |

I don't know if this will be a case of the blind leading the blind or not but I did an overpaint real quick. It is kinda messy because I don't have a tablet here at work to use but hopefully it will illustrate the point anyway.
I darkened the areas that should be in shadow and threw a bit more light on the areas I thought light would be hitting. It looks as though you thought about how the light is hitting each little tiny shape, but not how the bigger shapes as a whole cast shadows as well. The trick to remember is the nothing in the shadows should be as light as what is in the light (I believe this is something Spooge said in someone elses thread some time ago). For example: his neck. His neck in your pic is as light as the top of his helmet. Although the snow (assuming he is in snow) might cast reflected light up to his neck, reflected light shouldn't be as strong as the actual light source itself.
Hopefully someone else will spend a little more time on an overpaint to better show how light and shadow are used to create depth. But maybe my lame-ass attempt will help for now.

I have made some small adjustments, and I like the way his visor came out, but bear in mind its not even near completion, so please keep the c&c flowing..
