OK - oops looks like the last thread is closed down - er .. why would that be?

Theres a lot af talk about how the forum could be improved to avoid it going completely belly up;

It occurs to me that people are here on this forum for different reasons.

1 Some people are genuinely interested in Artwork - either to look at others work, comment, or to have a critique of their own. Regardless of talent or experience.

2 Some people are interested in chatting - you know passing the time of day, watching the fluff in their navel. Nothing wrong with this!

3 Some people want to practice their flamethrowing skills, enjoying as much to recieve as to give - the nearest they will ever get to real life? they enjoy the aggravation and the challenge. Its a kind of sport for the bored or competitive. Any forum will do for this (no real discrimination- it doesnt matter), a few well chosen words will easily get someone to respond with anger.

Maybe motivations 2 and 3 are now more common than 1 . Maybe the solution is to try in some way to create (or force) a division between peoples different reasons for being here, and make a place where the kiddies can play.


Actually censoring what people can say, has got to be a bad idea, against the whole principle that these things should be about. I'm not talking about closing threads and banning people, what about a TRASH forum, where anything like my last thread which turned sour could be dumped. in this way the only moderator decision being made is one of pacticality.

Trash forum is a good idea but too bad it will take away all the attention from the other board. Plus, this is a place for art and peace, in order to keep it this way, sour thread should be closed or deleted.

I for one, love having Random Musings. It gives you a chance to relax and chat about anything, share things that are happening in your life, get advice, and bond with people thousands of miles away. It's also cool to be able to see the usually very serious artsy people just unwind and post some funny-ass shit. Makes us all that much more human.

I don't think it's a problem at all. It used to be that barely anyone visited random musings. It won't take over the whole Sijun forums.

Hi all! Long time lurker Henrik here.
I totally agree with Lunatique on this one.
And what if the random musings gets even more attention than the art forum? I don't care, and i don't see it as a problem as long as the "ART" section can be clean and nice with good comments and discussions.

One more thing: I really don't think that 5 min sketches are to be put in the "finished work" section. IMHO.

you should use observers and dt's against lurkers. maybe observers and air units.
