All right, this is a piece I did in May of 2000. The rhino was done with prismacolor pencils, and the background was done with oil pastels. I think i'd like to do a new version of this (or use this sorta craziness in a newer piece with improved technique and a larger composition...)
Anyways, any comments or critiques are always welcome.
I've had a lot of experience since this piece with light/shadow relationships (including the 6 elements: highlight, light, half-tone, core shadow, reflected light, cast shadow), and improving on other aspects as well in my drawing and painting classes I have taken in this past year. I am hoping to find the time to do another piece like this sooner than later....
If you have any ideas or thoughts about how to improve upon the image, please do share your input.

Rhinos!!! My favourite animal! (well, this, and the bull's race used at the "corridas" or bullfights - beautiful, beautiful animals).
I like your pic Totally, the only thing that seems a bit strange to me is the land...seems more like a piece of cloth. Maybe it's because there's less contrast there than in the sky... |

heh the "land" is indeed strange and has a very soft quality. I wouldnt even necessarily call it land, it's simply the randomness that the rhino seems to be growing out of... perhaps it's the clay that the rhino is being created from...
All together I think the image is a bit too soft though... but that's a complaint I heard about a lot of my work back then.
