You leave a song or a set of songs on repeat all night while you sleep. When you wake up, the song sounds really low-pitched, almost like your CD player is dying.
Then, when you listen to the song later on, it sounds completely and totally different than ever before.
Argh. It's bizarre. I listened to Primus' rendition of NIB, the Stones' Paint it Black, Fatboy Slim's Rockefeller Skank, and Orimus' Devil went down to Georgia. They all sound completely different now. I can hear the individual parts more.. individually, and the instruments sound distorted somehow.
Has this ever happened to anyone else, or am I crazy? |

Happened to me few times, I guess it's sorta etched into our auditory memory, and the ear stopped to appreciate its subtlity and details. And the brain don't feel the necessity respond emotionally anymore, like it'd been there, done that. Those great music kinda degrades into an annoy background sound. meh, it's a pity.
or maybe I'm just crazy too. |

Sometimes I go on music listening binges, and then listen to no music for a few months, then feel compelled to listen to music again...
I think I've mentioned this before when I was "pandax52" (lost my password) When I had my wisdom teeth out, and I was under with Nitrous oxide, the dental surgeon let me listen to a music cd...whenever I hear Beethoven's moonlight sonata this wierd but enjoyable feeling creeps over me...
Maybe It has something to do with listening to music while in a wierd state, like if you were sleeping, maybe bits of the song found it's way into your unconsious, or in my situation, where my mouth was being mutilated, but I was enjoying it due to me not being very consious and having funny music in the background... |

When i was about 12 i used to listen to Run dmc and de la soul over and over but i couldnt make out the words. Now i have at least 3 albums of incoherent lyrics, mumbled words ingrained in my brain forever. eg -
"and that goes for my rhyme sheet, that i concentrated so hard on g, i dont ask for maximum security, but my dwellin is swellin, they pick up bunch a to the point"
etc
Thats 'potholes in my lawn'. |

I've fallen asleep with Plasticman:Consumed on repeat a couple of times.... strange thing.... I started dreaming in rhythm.... quite funny, actually.... but also quite exhausting... which sorta takes the point away from sleeping at all. |

I do something similar. Whenever I put a CD on, I sort of habitually press the "repeat" button, then I zone out of this world, and when I snap back to reality, I wonder why this noise that makes no sense (until I blink a few times) is going on.
More often than not, I wonder why it's on track 12, when it was on track 1 when I last heard it. |

I sometimes go into strange episodes where I will sit at the computer for some 28 hours in a row (usually playing diablo or painting) and put some song I like on repeat, and just forget it... after a while you don't hear the song anymore, but you don't feel the emptiness you'd feel if it wasn't playing... and then all of a sudden you just go whoa, here's the chorus!
drives my friends absolutely bonkers... |

Guess you're just used to the audio so much..
it's like when you watch a movie a second time. you're not looking for anything in particular, but you just subliminally pick out more details.
mmm.. its fun |
