this is one of my bro Kyri's pencils we thought we'd have a go at doing a collab painting with. Just a quick one, coulda used more tightening up but just gonna leave it I think.
Alternate version
and Kyri's original sketch

(As usual!) I like it, i get the impression you bounce ideas/crits about between you both but do the two of you work on many pieces as a team? |

cos, i like the background. maybe just tone it down alittle because it's competing with the figure. but the overall picture rocks. |

Very cool!
Reminds me of Chris Hall's "Mean Machine" design for Judge Dredd.
(on a sidenote, even though the film sucked, the book "The Art of Judge Dredd" is fantastic) |

Reminds me of the covers Bisley did for Terminator, except better. Nice stuff. |

Way cool you two.
In agreement with the bg comments though.
He looks pretty hard, sorta like me actually. |

Wolfe - Thanks, yeah Terminator was definetely the inspiration.
Satan - Thanks actually we usually always feedback crits, ideas etc off each other when we're both around, tho it has been a long while since we actually we both worked on a collaborative piece.
JR - Thanks man, agree that bg is kinda rushed. It's been touched up abit and lost some of that multicolourness, might touch it up some more tho.
Boomstick - Thanks!
Ceenda - Thanks! don't think I've seen chris hall's work before, is he a 2000ad artist? Yeah Dredd the movie was definetely crap heh, I'll look up that book tho, been looking for some good 'The Art of' books.
Balistic - Better than the biz terminator covers? thats a fucking top compliment man! Think this would need MUCH more working and details to even be close.. but it's cool of you to say so.. thanks!
Actually those covers was probably the main inspiration for this, they were fucking awesome as I remember, tho been a long time since I seen em. Actually if anyones got a link where I can find 'em online? (was having a look earlier but no joy).
mjmcchesney - Thanks! yeah think the bg is abit flat too, will keep that in mind for the touching up.
Lukiaz - hey cheersh man, glad u liked it

Neat. I agree with jr, though. The complexity of brush strokes in the background does compete with the details in the figure. Also, the saturation is relatively the same throughout--perhaps desat. the background a bit/simplify? I dunno, I like it as it is, quite frankly. Just bothered my eye a little.
Great job! =] |

I like it! Definitely a cool style, but I think some of the forms are a little skewed, like in the shoulder area. Of course, he could just be a mangled-up cyborg. |

cool, it got that terminator style..
I like it!
Maybe you should enlarge the canvas to the left so you can draw the whole gun. And fix that background up a bit and you will have a great(er) pic. |

Thanks for the comments and crits everyone. Heres an updated one, not sure if it makes that much difference really, but I think that's it for this one.

Sedone - Cheers man, I see what you mean on the shoulder. Front delt mostly I think, shape got lost abit in the painting. Think it's slightly better in the touched up one Kyri posted, tho yeah he is meant to mangled up abit.
Dixter - Thanks mate, gun side is too crammed, I agree. Was just left like that cause that's where the pencil sketch ended. |
