I posted an early version of this some time ago, and just finished it last night... The piece is inspired by Odd Nerdrum, who has a kind of modern rennaisance-painter thing going... Cloth has always been tough going for me, and I was trying to draw a woman in a burquah sometime last fall. My failure there, plus a visit to the Nerdrum site, plus a visit to Cirque du Soleil in Copenhagen, led to this.
I may have left the background a little too unresolved, but this may well turn out to be only the first of a series, so I'll worry about context for my figures later...
My site is still a bit broken... the only part really up and running yet is my digital folio

I think it looks great. Love the pose of the wight. When it first loaded, I thought, 'cool background!', but then when I saw the whole picture it (bg) did look a little underdone. |
