Inspired by Gil Elvgren. Just a cutesie pinup girl... I got tired of working on it and I'm ready to tackle something else. I'm happy with it although I had a little difficulty staying true to the style and making it look oil paintish. Oh well. She's done. Fun fun.

beautiful colors--i really love the legs most of all---the only thing that bothers me is the face--it looks a bit lopsided--like the right side of her face(our right) is higher up than the left side--the cheek bones makes it the most obvious---awesome though--are you done?? _________________ www.andresguzman.com

Grrr... You are going to hate to hear this since it is now near impossible to fix, but her head is a bit too small. Her eyes are a bit lopsided as well. Great work as always though! (how come I;ll never be as good as you guys and gals)? _________________ i like rice. |

If you look at it, her eyes are spot on. It's her eyebrows which are a bit crooked. But then, that's actually quite realistic;)
I'm quite jealous, really. _________________ X's make me happy. |

I absolutely adore this piece. Like, really. Definitely my favourite from you, Jez - but also a favourite above most work I've seen recently. I just find it captivating somehow. I adore the pinup style with a fresh new digital look, I think. I think it absolutely does the subject justice. The colours are so rich and well chosen! Wow, I'm totally loving this. |

WOW!!
This is easily my favourite piece of your art!! I just recently discovered Gil Elvgren and I must say that your work captured the spirit of his art quite nicely. Change the expression to an exaggerated look of surpise and you have classic Elvgren.
The choice of colors is spot-on perfect! Love the legs! Great work! |

Nicely done overall.
However, if you're going for an Elvgren look the legs should be lengthened slightly and the skin tones should be rendered even looser. Elvgren wasn't overly generous with his brush strokes, he used just enough to convey his vision. I've got this wonderful book of Elvgren art that has overlays of his actual photo references right over the paintings, so you could see just how much stuff he changed in his work. He'd increase the size of their breasts, nip their waist-lines, lengthen their legs, make their feet smaller, etc.. Not to mention all the changes in each one of their facial expressions.
Elvgren was a true master of the "less is more" theory when it came to his art. I think that's one of the things I envy most about the man, as I've always been overly anal when it comes to my own stuff.
As I said, it's nicely done and I think the differences in style add to the piece. I mean, when I see this I can tell it's been inspired by the Works of Elvgren, but it's not a direct bite of his stuff. Which in my mind is a good thing.
Good work sista.
Take it easy,

Thanks everyone!
Yeap... the hair is very incomplete and I should work on it more later. But not now because I'm tired of the piece. *grin* I'm glad everyone likes the skin tones though, because that is where I put all my effort.
Malachi - I think I have that same book! Its awesome isn't it? Buying that book is actually what inspired me to do the piece. You're also right about all the little things that make his style so unique. I guess I couldn't help but squeeze a little of myself into the image though. And yeah... I kinda like that better too. Better than a direct copy of his style. Thanks for the feedback. _________________ My Art.
