Meep... beep oo rr oop boopie die boop.
meep beep er beep de moop.
actually I'm just posting this mainly because I did it, I'm not sure if I really care for it all that much. I suppose I was just seeing how much eye candy I could put into a picture and destroy the original line art as much as possible. I suppose I suceeded in the eyecandy, to the point of distraction, oh well I'll do better next time. _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

nice job! if i can say something is that the conposition is a little to flat. You should try to darken some areas and focus the light on the subjet, i didnt saw it at first glance |

pupl ze brachypelmany> yes it is that big.. thnx
UkiTakuMuki> Glad you like it.
Plasmodium> I see what you're saying, more thematic lighting to complement the situation, and less abiance. I tried to stay off the everything looks the same color look, and I suppose in my tinkering to get it how I wanted I destroyed any chance to get real good lighting in. I'll see what I can do. thnx _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

Ya, it is gold, but I must agree that it needs a bit more contrast. just noticed the blood on the lights... nice touch, but shouldn't the blood be a tad brighter? _________________ i like rice. |

actually the blood on the lights look funny when brighter... at least to me. I wanted it more noticable though so I left it dark. BUT your pointing it out made me notice the glow around the light was all white, so I change the appropriate part so it glows red. _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

aColdOldKodiak, do you use reference? If not, then how do u place the primary lighting down? Are you -assured- of the lighting or just.. playing around to make it -feel- right? or are you like Mr Mullins and are just a lighting god. lol Your lighting is very -global- and very expansive.. like how it is in real life. Its more of a picture/realistic lighting than a painting..
I only tend to focus on certain points in my images :/ |

nope, not on something like this.
Basically I have the line art and a flat colored background which will be the shadow hue of the pic. Then I'll just paint in the jist of the lighting underneath the line art. Darks, lights , highlights and colors. So from there I know what I'm shooting for, and it just evolves from then on. Photoshop also has a lot of manipulation toys (curves, hue/saturation, brightness/ contrast) that can help you edit the look of things if you don't quite like it. It's a lot of tinkering, it's not very professional, but you'll get what you want in the end.
It's best to just observe lighting in the real world all the time, take note of things that interest you and try to apply them in your work. _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

Uh, since I can't really post anything helpful, I'll just comment:
Dude, that's cool XD
Keep it up, even if you don't find it professional, it's still pretty good :] |
