Hey, just trying to organize my computer, and was flippin through some CDs I made long time ago, and i have a shareware proggie called 4-screens, which basically gives you 3 extra virtual desktops.
For anyone who uses programs like this one, what are your opinions? Useful? Practical? I just want to know if there are any really strong pro/cons to them, such as their limitations. I'm just interested before I go out and search for one of these programs, so any suggestions would be great.
Thanks. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |

I use multiple desktops all the time in Linux.
I find them tremendously useful.
I have a work desktop, a play desktop etc. I can customize each one down to the most minute detail.
Do it, man. |

You can have multiple screens in winXP with some small "powertoys" app. I tried it and it sucks ehhe.
In either case i didn't find it practical. Minimize works wonders. |

i've never seen a well working multi-desktop proggie for default win shell. they are all hack arounds.
the cons are that you will leave a load of programs running taking up memory while you are not using them... i think this is also microsofts reason for not persuing that feature.
i couldnt live without it on linux though. |
