I wanted to start this thread for pictures that involve loneliness, unrealistic desire, and sadness. I would love if this community would be willing to post images that they make or have made pertaining to this subject.

I am new to these forums but I've been astounded by the level of talent I've seen. I have enjoyed going through most of the threads and seeing what people have to make. I am slowly expanding from my simple oil paintings to drawing closer to what you see here. I am a new artist, so I'm a bit gun shy to post here, but this picture was made in 1995 when I was 11. It was my attempt to express my desire for the future, and my desire to be accepted.

Thanks,
-Fei

When you were 11? You mean at least 21 I guess Question
I think it looks great. To me the painting seems full of hope. I guess because of the bright colors.
The loneliness comes across well, imho! Love it! I left an even shorter comment @ deviantart.

I guess this qualifies. At least those feelings did influence the concept!

I have one I made when I lost my grandma.

Alone
How we feel when we lose someone we love. Even when surrounded by family.

Andy: Thanks, but it was 11. My hands were pretty shaky, and I'm sure you can see I had a bit of a hard time with the palette knife and color balance.

I wish this forum included music Smile.

haohmaru: I really enjoy the body positioning, there is a great contrast to the piece that really sucks me in. The lake and rope have effectiveness while maintaining simplicity. Very nice =).

I'd say it was done Matthew... I don't know how much was intended or accidental, but I think thats a rather stunning picture. I like it... it's very mysterious and ghostly...

Uh, That isn't the sense I get about that picture at all schizo. I get the sense that he came home depressed and took a shower (normally a way people try to forget things), came out and looked in the mirror, lost all will, and hit the corner with his head or hand, he then pulls out a razor and starts dragging it along his forearms and then just stands there, completely numb, waiting for the end.

shizo, although your take is downright hilarious, as i could imagine a scream in caps degrade into my shouting, 'one! one! one!' from the bathroom, my analysis fall more in line with feinam. a note or two i had while making this semi-autobiographical piece, i probably broke the mirror with my right fist, and used the mirror shards to cut up my arm. realistically speaking, glass usually works well for cutting one's arms.

if you'd like another representation of that bathroom (it's modeled after the counterpart down the hall), feel free to view: http://www.arsjerm.net/stuff/2002_assorted/20020724_demarcothinker.png. it's a png and not under this thread topic, so i won't be [img]'ing it.

Jerm, the line quality on your piece looks like an etching, is it?
