"Futuremark said it identified eight instances where Nvidia's Detonator FX 44.03 and 43.51 WHQL drivers detected specific 3DMark03 tests and inflated the benchmark results to the detriment of overall image quality. The allegations were first lodged by ExtremeTech, a hardware enthusiast Web site."
Apparently, NVIDIA and ATI's latest drivers have been detecting the 3DMark benchmark tests and 'bumping' them up a bit. When they rewrote the code to confuse the drivers, the performance went down by about 24%.

I have heard that these companies create their products to produce good benchmark results. But actually detecting them! and altering its behavior.... WOW! |

not good, cuz then the chips manufacturers would REALLY know when and how to cheat. the entire code will be laying infront of them to go through.
on the contrary, it should be encrypted!! |
