Hamster Alliance - Talos.ogg (Right click, Save as)

The ogg will play in most mp3 players, by the way.

Eastern Vocals overtop Breakbeats, Heavy Synth Lines, and Ancient Percussion. Warm Pads, choirs and mechanical Noises.

Any kind of bass issues I already know about.

So, whatchu think?!?! :D

I remember back in 98-99 when I heard a remix with some guys who were remixing an old band called Gus Gus, cant remember the name of that song but the style in your new song reminds me of that sound and I gotta tell you that -that is my favourite music style, I just love your new song, it is very professional, Wow, is this Buzz?
I could see in the info file that you have a name of the album so are you gonna release an album with this song?

keep up the good work and keep posting cause I love your stuff. :)
Matthew

Your song is on my harddrive *Matthew having a rave party on his own and jumping around the apartment* :)

Hey, Matthew. Thanks for the compliments and yes it's all Buzz. I love that damn program - so personal feeling to me compared to other ones.

As for the album - yes, there will be an album called "Music For Tuna" released probably later this year.

*raves too*

The Middle Eastern vocals and ancient percussion were almost irrelevant in the track, no? Why not do a track where the scale used was actually in the Middle Eastern tradition, and actually use Middle Eastern instruments, percussive styles..etc?

Check out what Transcendental did for Steam soundtrack, or what Anne Dudley did with Jaz Coleman for Songs from the Victorious City. They are the best of the best IMHO when it comes to that kind of stuff.

That's kind of closed thinking, dont you think, Luna? :D

Just cause a song has a jazz beat doesn't mean it has to be a jazz song.

I'm not here to make genre specific music - I'm here to mix and match as I please. :)

Thanks for listening.

Well, I guess I'm used to guys that do world music where multi-cultural influences are used in a context that brings relevance to the piece, at a level deeper than surface garnish. People like Gabriel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Sakamoto..etc are perfect examples.

But as you said, it's your music and you can do as you please. I'm merely making suggestions. We do this naturally for art posts--in fact we crit them thoroughly all the time, yet it seems when it comes to music, critique is all of a sudden a touchy thing? Are musicians privileged to less scrutiny than visual artists?

I'm a fan of your music, and there are quite a few that I really liked. I would never crit someone if I felt my breath would be wasted--in other words, I only bother if I actually liked their work. If you don't like hearing crits on your music, then I'll never say a thing again.

Nah, I'm not getting touchy, man. But, like how you said when it comes to critique people get touchy: I ask you - why is it when someone has an opposing opinion to your critique or comments on it, it's suddenly a touchy thing? :)

I'm not angry or anything at you. I just wasn't seeing any critique or useful comments in your post.

If I simplify your post this is what I get: "The vocals have nothing to do with the track. Why not make something else?" you just said it more eloquently - but it's still just that; no constructive criticism.

Lastly, this isn't world music. It's breakbeat. :P

Again, thanks for listening - I appreciate it!

AND YES - I will do a world track later when I'm doing this on my own free time. This particular song was done for a DVD project this company is selling down here. The director wanted breakbeats - so that's what I did.

Pretty enjoyable track Hamster, like Ive said before it has this production quality feel to it. could almost be the opening credits for a movie or something.

(coming from somebody who has no experience with music beyond singing with his mom in church)
