I got painter8 awhile ago, but i recently started to use it. When i was doing line art i found that the lines i had erased would become white instead of disappearing...
Does anyone know how to make those white lines go away? because i don't feel like retracing the lineart again... |

Did you not draw your lines on a separate layer over your sketch? You have to do that if you want to be able to erase them without affecting what's beneath. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Hi,
Explain your image in detail. Tell us if you're using Layers, what kinds of Layers and the order from bottom to top, what Composite Methods if not Default, and exactly which brush variants you've used. Then list any brush control adjustments you've made that would make the brush variants work differently from what we'd expect.
Without enough info, it's only guessing and that doesn't help you much.

Oh okay.
Well my sketch was handrawn originally, and i scanned it in, so now it's the background.
Then i put a layer on top of that to outline the lineart on. after finishing outlining, i planned to color underneath the lineart but above the background layer.
Thats where i had problems, because when i put color underneath, i could see all the white lines that were lines i had erased when outlining the lineart.
Right now there are three layers
Background --> Skin (a blank layer i was originally planning to color the skin on --> Lineart (the layer with the unwanted white lines) |

I can't really explain the white lines . . . sometimes that will happen if you try to erase on a layer that has its transparency preserved in Photopaint, but I tested it in Painter 6 and it didn't happen. Are your lines basically just black? Try changing the mode of your line layer to "multiply" . . . this will make it so they only darken what is beneath them, and you will be able to color under the lines without seeing the white parts that are giving your problems. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

The only way i can see that happening is if you have preserve transperancy on while erasing. I made that mistake plenty when I started using painter |

That doesn't happen with all Painter IX Eraser variants. For instance, I just tried it with two of them and got different results:
The Pointed Eraser Bleach 15 variant left a white line, where the original black line was on the Layer, when color was painted below it.
The Eraser's Eraser variant did not leave a white line, where the original black line was on the Layer, when color was painted below it.
