If you are near to this picture, Mr Angry is on the left and Mrs Calm is on the right. If you view it from a distance, they switch places.
It looks like they swapped the high and low frequencies of two different pictures. Up close, the viewer pickes up on high frequencies (edges). At a distance the impression created by the low frequencies seems to dominate.
Is there a lesson in there somewhere for painters in how to convey the impression of form, perhaps? |
