Ey!
I am having a problem with doing clothes and such, so I tried to do something quite simple and this came out.
Just that no matter how long I've tried on some occasions, well every occasion, the texture of the clothing doesn't look like cloth.
So I would love to get some crits and tips on what I'm doing wrong over here!
Thanks alot

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about texturing just yet. Plan out the basic structure before you get into details. I see some proportion issues, mostly the guy's legs and the steed being too small. His head also seems a little too big for those shoulders.
Having said all that, I think you've got a good start for a burlap texture, but that's probably not what you want. I think the key to selling something as cloth is all in the folds. Toss a towel onto the floor and look at the folds and get a feel for how they act. Yours are too subtle. Also, watch out that your highlights aren't too hard, as on his elbow. Hard highlights kill the matte effect you want on cloth. |

Thanks alot for the advice!
Yeah I've tried putting some clothing down and seeing how it works and all that.
About the proportions: Yeah I tend to mess em up 50% of the time :p
The steed I wanted to be too small, but it kind of took the leggs with him.
I kind of found away for myself to do cloth somehow today. Using an airbush on low opacity and a big size, and then adding small shadows. (Theres a mobster on the speedpainting on p.914 i think)
But thanks alot! I'll keep this in mind as I practice
and with texture i kind of ment like, it looks like rubber when i do it, you know rather than the actual details. I guess I should of said material tbh, but once an idiot always an idiot |
